Principal's message - week 35
Happy Revenge of the Fifth Day!
We have a really fun fundraiser that happens each fall called "Glow Golf" and this year it's at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Course! If you would like to volunteer, we will be sending out a sign up at a later date, but if you would like to PLAY, please see the brochure on the following link http://tinyurl.com/npes-GlowGolf2017 This is a super fun event and brings in quite a bit of money for us (Thank you Joanna Mehaffey at Columbia Bank!) which we will be using to purchase more chrome books and increase our STEM opportunities next year. I hope you can join us on Friday, Sept. 8.
The past week I have been out at the turn around in the morning and I think things are starting to go more smoothly. One thing I do notice is that when cars park, parents walk their students in, and then have to back out and leave, it slows down the turn around line. I would encourage you to drop your children off at the turn around rather than walk them into school each day. One of our goals is to help children become more independent, which means to take off the training wheels when they are ready! At this point in the year students know the school well and should be able to enter the building and get to class on their own. Please help us make the morning more efficient for everyone by allowing your child to be dropped off and come into school independently!
Many of you know I will be returning to Village of Hope, Uganda this summer to continue my work with the staff and students there. Each year when I go, I bring items they have requested. This year they are asking for specific school supplies and graduation decorations (they graduate in November). There are some big lists on posters in the hallway, and a purple box in the office for collection. Here are the items I'm trying to collect:
500 sheets of white 8 1/2” x 11” card stock (this is for the Christmas cards the kids make for their sponsors)
Epson 288XL Black and 288 Color printer cartridges (2 of each)
Expo dry erase makers - 10 (black)
Graduation decorations (light cardboard decor that should be available in party stores and dollar stores in May/June) - we need two sets
Crayola markers : the kids do NOT use crayons - only markers. Crayola is the best
Yarn of all colors
Stickers
Black Sharpies
Red, blue and black pens
Please remember this is just for your info and I completely understand if you are not interested or unable to bring anything, I just wanted you to know!
We are supposed to be in for another nice weekend, I sure hope so!
Becky
