Message from Mrs. Williams
Happy Holidays!!
This week we focused on perseverance, crucial life skill that plays a pivotal role in our children's academic and personal development.
Perseverance, often referred to as grit, is the ability to persist in the face of challenges, setbacks, and obstacles. It is a skill that not only contributes to academic success but also fosters resilience, determination, and a positive mindset.
As partners in your child's education, we encourage you to actively support the development of perseverance at home. Here are a few simple yet effective ways you can help cultivate this invaluable life skill in your child:
Celebrate Effort: Emphasize the importance of hard work and effort, rather than just focusing on outcomes. Praising your child for their dedication and determination reinforces the idea that perseverance is a journey, not just a destination.
Model Perseverance: Children often learn best by example. Share your own experiences of facing challenges, overcoming adversity, and the importance of persistence. Demonstrating a positive attitude towards setbacks will inspire resilience in your child.
Provide a Supportive Environment: Create a home environment that encourages exploration and risk-taking. A supportive atmosphere allows children to feel comfortable taking on challenges, knowing that they have a safety net in place.
By working together, we can empower our students to develop the perseverance they need to thrive in the face of life's challenges. As always, your partnership and involvement in your child's education are instrumental in their success.
Thank you for your ongoing support.

January 10, Jason Foundation Presentation
Cedar Crest will be hosting a presentation from the Jason Foundation on January 10. The focus of the presentation will be on suicide prevention and awareness, and the importance of seeking help if a student is experiencing thoughts of suicide or feels hopeless. The presentation emphasizes the need to tell a trusted adult if a student is experiencing these feelings, or if they recognize these behaviors in anyone else. The presentation is age-appropriate and will be tailored to the needs of our 5th and 6th grade students. Each presentation will last 45 minutes. If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to cassie.williams@sedubois.k12.in.us.
