Weekly Updates
Week of February 10, 2025
As we approach Valentine's Day it is a wonderful reminder to celebrate and appreciate the people in our lives who care for us. In preschool this is our classroom friends and teachers and the other friends we see throughout our day in other classrooms. While we do not celebrate with a party, we do encourage all students to create cards and valentines in school to share with those they care about.
Thank you to all of you for your patience, support and trust. As a staff we feel last week set a good emotional foundation for all of the children. It is likely some students will continue to have questions and we will continue to support them.
The community has been so kind and generous with the support for the Go Fund Me established for Thomas' family. There will be a Celebration of Life for Thomas Thursday February 13th, 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Edward Swanson and Son Funeral Home, 30351 Dequindre Rd., Madison Heights, MI 48071. The family is asking for book donations to your local library in lieu of flowers.

African-American Read-In 2025!
On Thursday, February 27th, our ROS JEDI Council will be partnering with the ROS Curriculum, Literacy, and DEI Depts., and Oakland Schools to host the 2025 African American Read In ROS Watch Site. This is an amazing family-oriented event, so please register to bring your families along with you to this meeting as well.
This year's read in will feature national award-winning author and illustrator, Jacqueline Woodson. Woodson was also a featured author in our 2024 ROS Royalbery Book Challenge, so many of our older students may be familiar with this author's work.
