Dragons of the Month for February
No School on Feb. 20-21
There is no school this Thursday and Friday, February 20-21 for Rodeo Break.
Parent-Teacher Conference Quality Surveys
If you have not yet filled out the survey about your conference last week, please do so! This helps us serve our families better. Thank you!
Middle School AZELLA Testing Next Week
Please note that all middle school students who are English Language Learners will be taking the AZELLA test next week on Monday, February 24 and Tuesday, February 25. Please encourage your students to try their best and ensure that they get a good night's rest and a nutritious breakfast before the test to support them. Our performance on the AZELLA test has a significant impact on the school letter grade!
Important Medication Policy for Parents
For the safety and well-being of all students, we kindly remind parents that students are not allowed to carry medication on campus. There are few exceptions to this rule. If your child needs to take medication during school hours, please visit the school health office to complete a medication permission form. The medication will then be securely stored in the health office for your child's use.
If you have any questions or need more information, don't hesitate to contact the health office. Thank you for your cooperation!
Last Call for Lost & Found
Our lost and found is overflowing! If your student has misplaced their jacket, lunchbox, or water bottle, please come rescue it! All items that are still in the lost and found at the beginning of next week will be donated to charity. Thank you!
Elementary Track and Field Participation Notification Deadline
All 3rd-5th graders are invited to participate on Drachman’s Track and Field Team. Dr. Celaya will place students who participate into 2-3 events, which include the 100-meter dash, the 200-meter dash, the 800-meter run, softball throw, high jump, and/or long jump. Students will practice during recesses. Students will need a Sports Physical if one has not already been submitted to our office. There will also be a $3.00 fee to be submitted to the office for participation. The team will have a meet on March 18th at one of TUSD’s high schools during the school day, and students will ride the bus with Dr. Celaya to the meet. Top performers will be invited to a City-Wide Meet on April 5th at Palo Verde High School.
The deadline to let Dr. Celaya know that your child(ren) would like to participate is February 24th at midnight! Please tell him in person, call him, email him, or send a note with your child to let him know if your child(ren) would like to participate.
We will also hold optional after school practices on 2/24, 2/25, 2/27, 2/28, 3/3, 3/4, and 3/6 from 2:45 to 3:30. Mr. Eric Forster, one of our Track and Field Coaches, will run those practices. Please send your child with a snack and something to drink if they attend these practices. Students will be dismissed from the playground gates by the soccer field after practices end.
Middle School Track and Field Coach Needed
As of today, we have not had an applicant for our Middle School Track and Field vacancy. If you or someone you know may be interested, email Dr. Celaya. Unfortunately, if a coach is not available, we will not be able to offer a Middle School Track and Field experience during the fourth quarter.
From the Health Office
As the weather warms up and the air is dry, we’ve noticed an increase in little nosebleeds around school. Dry air can make our noses feel a bit scratchy and cause little cracks, leading to those pesky bleeds. To keep those noses happy, we encourage everyone to bring a water bottle to school each day! Staying hydrated helps keep our bodies (and noses!) nice and healthy. Remind your kiddos to sip, sip, sip throughout the day so they can stay comfy and healthy. Let’s all work together to keep our students feeling their best this season!
Resources at the Family Resource Centers
Please check out the newsletter from TUSD's Family Resource Centers. It has lots of great information about resources available to students and their families, including a variety of classes they are offering free of charge!
Reminder: School Quality Surveys
Please share your feedback about Drachman with us through the School Quality Survey! You should have already received an email about the survey at the email address on file in ParentVue.
Emails with the link to the survey are coming from Dr. Freitas in the Assessment & Evaluation Department (A&E) through Survey Monkey. The email will be titled "TUSD Parent School Quality Survey 2025 – we want your feedback!"
Thank you!
Reminder: SNAP Health Center Information
Over the next few months, the Drachman Health Office will transition to using SNAP Health Center for communication with parents. As a result, most email communications will now come from SNAP Health Center.
Please note the following important information:
- The first time an email is sent from SNAP, you will receive a message with a password.
- Please save your password – it will only be sent once.
- This password will be used for all future messages from SNAP.
We recommend saving the password in a secure location to ensure you can access all future communications. If you have any questions or need assistance, please do not hesitate to contact the Health Office. Thank you for your cooperation.
Reminder: Parents & Partners on Patrol
We are launching a new program to increase the number of adults on campus to supervise students before school, after school, and during recesses called Parents & Partners on Patrol. Participants in the program will be approved Drachman Volunteers who will receive training from TUSD School Safety and Drachman Administration on how to properly monitor students across various campus spaces, and their support will increase the adult supervision on campus and overall campus safety. If you are interested in becoming a Parent/Partner on Patrol, please email Dr. Celaya for more information.
Reminder: Yearbooks on Sale
Yearbooks for this school year are currently on sale for $13 each. The last day to order is April 17. (Please note that yearbooks must be pre-ordered!)
You can purchase the yearbook on the TUSD Payment Portal, with your student’s ID number as the user name (this can be found on ParentVue), and the student’s last name as the password. If you have any questions, please email Ms. Amanda Laub, who is coordinating the yearbook.
Reminder: Register for Next Year!
Online registration for the next school year is now available! Please register NOW for next school year to help Drachman get maximum funding and keep all current teaching and staff positions! We need all returning students/families in grades Kindergarten through 7th grade to do this as soon as possible! It’s easy: just open your ParentVUE account and follow the registration steps. Also, please let us know if you have a child who will enter kindergarten at Drachman next year!
