A Message from Principal Wade
Welcome to 2025
Dear EDW Families,
Welcome back! I hope you did all the things you needed over winter break and that it was filled with memorable moments, smiles, joy, laughter and an abundance of time with loved ones. As we begin this new year, we are so excited to reconnect with our scholars and continue our journey of growth and learning together.
This is a wonderful time to set new goals, embrace challenges, and celebrate achievements, big and small. We are committed to creating a supportive and inspiring environment where every scholar feels heard, valued, empowered to thrive and has an authentic feeling of belonging.
Thank you for your continued partnership and dedication to our school community. Let’s make this year one of growth, success, and joy!
I also want to address the HOLD that occurred earlier in this week.
EDW was placed on a HOLD due to a situation with a scholar in the hallway and the cafeteria and it then moved to the media center. Because of the time of this situation and lunch/recess rotations beginning, the safety of all scholars was considered, and the HOLD was initiated.
Initiating a HOLD means that hallways are cleared, scholars stay in their classroom, and we conduct teaching and learning as usual.
I take full responsibility for not communicating earlier in the week and moving forward, if EDW needs to initiate any holds, lockdowns, or other "non-practice" emergency responses, communication will go out to families.
Please see additional information below about Emergency Response Protocols at EDW and in Roseville Area Schools.
In partnership,
Rebecca

From the Health Office
Reminder about Medications at School:
All student medications must be stored in the school health office unless otherwise approved by the school nurse. Prescribed medications given at school must have the Roseville “Dispensation of Medication” form signed by a healthcare provider and the parent/guardian. Over-the-counter (OTC) medications should have the medication permission form signed by the parent/guardian. All medications should be in the original containers labeled with the following: student’s name, medication name, dose, time of day to take medication, and healthcare provider’s name. Please contact your school nurse with any questions or concerns.
Middle School Immunizations:
It is time to think about immunizations for students who will enter 7th grade in the fall. The MN Immunization Law states that all students entering grade 7 will need to have completed these immunizations: 1 Tdap booster, 1 meningococcal, 2 MMR, 2 Varicella and 3 Hepatitis B vaccines. Please make an appointment for your grade 6 student now.
If you are unsure which vaccines your student needs, call your clinic or your school health office.
Need help with immunizations?
Ramsey County Public Health Walk-In clinics offer low cost immunizations.
Call 651-266-1234 for locations and information.
Thank you for your attention to this important health matter.
