The Wallin Way Weekly Newsletter
November 22nd, 2024
Good Evening K9 Families,
Wow, what a week it’s been! We had the Plainfield North High School Tigers Club visit, and their students read with ours—it was such a special experience for everyone involved. On top of that, our fifth graders took a field trip to Plainfield North to watch a play. It’s always so rewarding to see our students excited about new learning experiences!
Yearbook Cover Contest—Calling All Creative Minds!
I’m super excited to share this awesome opportunity for your student to design the cover of this year’s school yearbook! This contest is open to all grade levels, so everyone can join in the fun.
The artwork can include anything related to Wallin Oaks Elementary—our school, 2024-2025, our K9s, the mascot, students, learning, or anything that shows what makes Wallin Oaks special. Just make sure it’s on unlined, white printer paper (standard size) and in portrait orientation so it prints perfectly.
Here’s the Scoop:
- Deadline: Turn in submissions to Mrs. Z in the main office before winter break!
- Next Steps: Once all the entries are in, the entire school will vote to pick the winning design for the yearbook cover!
Talk to your student about this exciting chance to leave their mark on Wallin Oaks. I can’t wait to see all the creativity and school spirit come to life in their designs!
As we head into Thanksgiving break, I hope you all get a chance to relax, unwind, and enjoy some quality time with family and friends.

Pick Up and Drop Off Reminders
Morning Drop Off
We kindly ask that families do not park at Ira Jones when dropping off students. Please be sure to pull into the designated car line to ensure a safe and smooth drop-off process for everyone. Following this procedure helps keep traffic flowing and ensures the safety of all students.
Additionally, please avoid pulling up to the front of the school before 8:30 a.m. Arriving early causes our preschool parents to get stuck in the car line. To help keep traffic flowing smoothly, please wait until after 8:30 before lining up to drop off students.
Afternoon Pick Up
Please remember to turn off your car while waiting to pick up your student after school. Running cars pose a safety risk for students and teachers walking up and down the car lines, and it's also important to reduce the fumes in the air for everyone’s health. Thank you for helping us keep our school environment safe and healthy!
