Grizzly Gazette
September 26th, 2024
Another amazing week to be a Grizzly here at Greenwood!
Greenwood has been having so much fun and learning inside and out of our school. We had a successful Fun Run and great turn out for the homecoming parade! We are so grateful for all the donations our PTO received from our students' family and friends! There is still ONE MORE DAY to donate to help us reach our goal.
See below for more information about our upcoming Harvest Fest/Trunk or Treat, Count Day, how to get involved with the PTO, and Picture Day which is coming up next Monday, September 30th.
Thank you for taking the time to review the Grizzly Gazette each week. It really is the best single place to get all Greenwood information!
In partnership,
Reba McNally, Greenwood Principal
Count Day - October 2nd: Why It Matters
- Directly impacts school funding: More students present = more resources for classrooms and programs.
- Supports classroom needs: Funding helps provide supplies, technology, and learning tools.
- Enhances student services: Ensures we have the staff and programs to meet student needs.
- Helps maintain smaller class sizes: More funding can support additional staffing.
- Ensures consistency in learning: Regular attendance supports continuous learning for students.
Please ensure your child is at school on October 2nd!
Why Attendance Matters Every Day: Daily attendance is key to student success. Missing school means missing important lessons and social connections that help your child thrive academically and socially. Every day counts!
Thank you to our fabulous Fun Run leaders & volunteers!

Safety & Security
Below is an outline of our new entry procedures for the all Lakeview buildings districtwide, which will take effect on the first day of school (August 26th). These updates are being implemented to ensure the safety of our students and staff.
New Procedures:
Entry: To maintain security, no adult can enter the main office without an appointment or scheduled event. Families must remain outside and show their IDs to the camera for the secretaries to verify via PowerSchool records.
QR Code: A QR code will be posted with information about specific situations or scenarios. When scanned, the QR code will direct you to a form, which will be reviewed promptly, and an appointment will be created if needed.
Student Early Pick-Up: If you need to pick up your student(s) early, please come to the main office and show your ID through the camera at the entrance. You’ll then wait outside for your student to be dismissed. The secretaries will document the pick-up, including the reason and time.
Dropping Off Items: If you need to drop off something for your student(s), a green cart will be available in the vestibule. This is where you can leave items like lunches, gym shoes, etc. We will provide markers and masking tape so you can label the item.
Scheduled Meetings: If you have a scheduled meeting, Mrs. Dani will confirm your appointment via our speaker system and check that it is on the schedule. Feel free to call ahead to confirm or schedule an appointment.
As we implement these new procedures, we kindly ask for your patience and understanding. Our priority is to keep the building safe while ensuring you have a positive experience at Greenwood. These measures are designed to minimize variables and enhance the security of our school community. Thank you for your cooperation!

All students have access to free breakfast and lunch, every day! Breakfast will open at 7:45am in the cafeteria before school begins each day. Please have your student in line by 7:55 if they are having school breakfast. Students should enter through the 5th grade entrance on the above map for breakfast.
