It has been a fun week! We are getting to the last couple weeks of school and you can feel it through the building! We have a lot of people to thank this week! Thank you to all of the volunteers that helped with the Book Fair and Pioneer Day! Without your help, we could not make this happen. Thank you also to all of the people that recognized our great teachers and staff this week during Staff and Teacher Appreciation week! IMPORTANT - Afternoon Pick-up Change
Starting Monday, May 6 ...
The lane closest to the sidewalk will be for OFFICE VISITORS ONLY until 3:05pm. If you are picking up your student prior to 3:05, you will need to use the lane closest to the grass/road or park in a designated parking area.
This is for the safety of our students as well as to prevent a back-up for visitors who are needing to drive through the parking lot. If you do not follow these guidelines, you may be asked to move or drive back around to pick up your student.

Sunscreen Reminder
SUNSCREEN POLICY (Per Indiana Law IC 20-34-3-22)
When sunscreen is needed (i.e. field trips, Field Day, etc.)
A. Parents are encouraged to apply sunscreen at home, then send it for reapplication.
B. Students need to bring their own, non-aerosol sunscreen, as they are not permitted to share, due to possible reactions/chemical make-up of sunscreen.
C. Students should plan to apply their own sunscreen.
D. The law states that school personnel are only permitted to apply sunscreen with written parent permission. E. School personnel are not required to apply, even with parent permission. If a parent requests for sunscreen to be administered by the school and the teacher/staff is not comfortable doing so, the school nurse may do so with parental consent.
From the Nurse
IMPORTANT MEDICATION PICK UP INFORMATION
All medication must be picked up or sent home with the parent's permission by the last day of school. You may call or send in a note to have the nurse send the medication home with your student. We are not permitted to keep it over the summer. Any medication left at school after 5/21 will be disposed.
Please contact the nurse at ext 3008 if you have any questions.
Attention 5th grade Parents
Fifth grade students will need to have Tdap & meningitis immunizations going into 6th grade, if they have not already done so. Please start scheduling appointments now. If you have questions, please contact your child's doctor or the school nurse.
Attendance (765) 689-9131
Parents or guardians must call the school attendance line when their child is absent. Call 765-689-9131 and wait to hear Maconaquah Elementary School and then attendance. Contacting the teacher is not the same as reporting it to the attendance line in the front office. When you call the attendance line to report a student's absence, please include why the child is absent, or it will be marked as unexcused. If a child is absent for a medical appointment, it is necessary to bring a doctor's note for the absence to be excused.
PBIS Spirit Fundraiser
Kiwanis Coats for Kids
Donate any gently used coats
Before you get rid of a winter coat your child has outgrown, please consider donating it to Coats for Kids. There is a box in the front office to put any gently used coats. The coats will be cleaned and distributed in the fall to help families in need. More information will follow with the distribution dates.
