BOYNTON ELEMENTARY
FEBRUARY 2025

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Spring is officially here! April is a month of renewal and growth, and just like the flowers blooming around us, our students are blossoming with new knowledge and experiences. We've seen incredible growth and progress in the classroom this school year.
We are excited about the warmer weather coming and all of the fun learning activities we have planned for the remainder of the school year. Our goal is to continue to incorporate as many of our spring activities for the month of April and May for our students while providing them with a high quality education. We will keep you posted on dates and event details through our newsletter, school-wide text messages, and your child’s VIP. We are committed to providing a supportive and enriching learning environment for all our students. Your partnership is invaluable, and we appreciate your continued support. It’s going to be an incredible rest of the school year!
Thank you to all of our teachers and support staff that are working hard everyday to make sure that our students’ educational, social, emotional, and behavorial needs are being met. A shout out to our teachers and support staff that are working in our After School Tutoring program for our 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade students. We have 2 sessions remaining. I am proud of our students for persevering and working so hard during and after school. I know this extra time of concentrated instruction and learning after school will support their academic goals.
On April 21st we will begin our GA Milestones Testing week. Students in grades 3, 4, and 5 will participate in the areas of Reading, Language, Math, and Science (5th Grade Only). Our students have made great gains throughout the year, and we are looking forward to seeing the outcomes to these tests and the positive growth of our students.
Thank you for all of your support for our APEX Fundraiser. We met our school goal! Thank you for your generosity and willingness to give to our students and school. We appreciate each of you.

SCHOOL SAFETY
This school year has flown by! Time flies when you're having fun, and in my case that's absolutely true. I know some people don't understand exactly what a school resource officer actually does, so I would like to explain a little bit about that. Obviously, we are here to keep our kids safe, but there is so much more to it than that.
As a school resource officer (SRO), safety is my main concern, and I take that extremely seriously. I view all the kids in my school as my own, and I will do everything in my power to protect them. SROs also are here to build positive relationships with kids. There are some kids that don't get to eat or feel loved unless they are at school. SROs try to identify the kids that may need a little extra love and attention and try to connect with them in a positive light.
Some kids may already have a negative view of law enforcement for whatever reason. As an SRO, I try to portray myself as a friend (because I truly am one) so the children see police officers in a positive light. This ensures they can come to us anytime they need us, and they know we are there for them.
SROs aren't just police officers assigned to a school. It's a true calling. Building trust with our most vulnerable and helping mentor them.
Being an SRO at Boynton has been the most rewarding job I've had in my 14 years of law enforcement, and I love every second!
Let's keep nurturing our kids and keeping them safe!

It’s the time of year that your child’s anxiety may be on the rise. Talk to your child about their anxiety/worry. Ask them how often they feel anxious, what it feels like in their body, and what helps them feel better. And remember, modeling is the best way to show your child that it is okay to feel anxious or worried at times. Share how anxiety/worry makes you feel and what you do to calm down.
Our teachers have been busy preparing students all year to do their best on the test. If we all work together to prepare and encourage your child, they will feel more confident in doing their very best and less anxious!
PBIS NEWS
**I will be Safe** I will be a Team player** I will Always be Respectful** I will be Responsible**
4th 9 Week Focus: I will Always be RESPONSIBLE
Positive Behavior Tip:
What is Responsibility?
When asked what traits parents would like their children to have as adults, the most common responses were ‘to be responsible’.
Responsibility is a big umbrella which includes many different things:
being dependable so other people can count on you;
keeping one’s word, promise and agreements;
doing something to the best of your ability;
being accountable for your behavior or words;
accepting credit when you have done something right, and acknowledging your mistakes; and
being a responsible and contributing member of your family, community and society.
Here are five great tips to help teach children how to take on more responsibility and grow up to be more confident:
1. Model Responsible Behavior-Teach them by example.
2. Assign Responsibility Gradually-Children learn responsibility in a gradual manner, quite similar to the way they learn to walk and talk..
3. Let Kids Take On The Evening Routine
4. Don’t Rush to Bail Your Child Out Cited from recessguardians.org

Thank you to everyone that was able to attend Boynton's Annual STEM Night. Everyone really enjoyed the activities Creative Discovery Museum brought for us, and we were so happy to show off our Heritage Middle School Robotics Team and their hard work.
Spring is in the air, and so is innovation! This April, our students are diving into exciting STEM activities, from exploring the wonders of nature with hands-on science experiments to tackling fun engineering challenges. With Earth Day around the corner, we’re focusing on sustainability, recycling, and the science behind protecting our planet.
NOTES FROM THE NURSE
Springtime is here! This time of year often brings spring cleaning to mind. A time to think of cleaning, and safety around the house. A time to clean out your medicine cabinet, and discard all expired medications that are no longer needed. A time to check all toys to make sure they are safe for kiddos to play with and enjoy.
Spring is also a time for parents to plan for the next school year. With this being said, immunizations come to mind for our children who will be entering Pre-K, Kindergarten, and our 5th graders who will enter Middle school next year. Always check with your Pediatrician, or health care provider to see if your child's immunizations are up to date, and ready for the next school year. It will be here before you know it.
If you have any questions or concerns, please call me at 706-866-1521.
