Happenings Around the School
On Wednesday, our school's Unified Club, Unified Teams, and Marching Lions were invited to Hershey to kick off the PA Department of Education's annual conference. Our Bocce Team joined representatives from PATTAB and the Bureau of Special Education in a friendly game, highlighted by our Marching Lions providing pep music. Afterward, we marched into the conference, where our school was celebrated for receiving our National Banner School banner! Our students, Adam Bernhardt and Madisyn Burchett, spoke to the enormous crowd, sharing why they are proud members of the Unified Club. Special thanks to their advisers, Meghan Lintz and Angela Stuth, and the rest of the RL team! It was an especially great day to be a Lion!

"Paws"itive Pal
This week’s Pawsitive Pal is Mr. David Hively. Mr. Hively is the department head of our mighty math department. In his veteran career, he has taught almost every level of math, from Algebra 1 to AP Calculus. Mr. Hively has taught generations of students, including several current Red Lion employees. What is amazing is that he continues to teach with the same enthusiasm and dedication that he started with three decades ago. He is constantly looking for ways to engage his students and push them to understand difficult mathematical concepts. Not only is he an amazing teacher, but he is also an exceptional colleague and school leader. He guides his department with fairness and kindness and contributes to the overall culture of the building with truth and logic. Mr. Hively is respected by all. Thank you for your dedication, loyalty, and commitment to Red Lion.

Athletics
Attention Spring Athletes - physicals due in Rankone February 17th! See below:
ATHLETICS UPDATE:
New this season, we will no longer be accepting paper copies of physical paperwork. ALL PAPERWORK MUST BE HANDED IN ON RANKONE. This is for many reasons, the most important being that we can have virtual access to physicals at all times in the case of an emergency. Additionally, this will help us immensely with our administrative load.
Please have students either contact their coach or email us at ATstaff@rlasd.net if they are having troubles uploading. Please do not forward them my email address.
If anyone has questions regarding the paperwork process, please direct them to our website at this link: https://www.rlasd.net/apps/pages/index.jsp?uREC_ID=4276102&type=d&pREC_ID=2522756

Important Information
Information Regarding Good Standing Status
Attention Parents, Guardians and Students: We are continuing to monitor data to determine which students are in good standing and those that are not. If a student is not in good standing their privileges to the cafe will be revoked for one week. Grade and attendance reports are generated on Thursday mornings at 9am. Students and guardians will receive notification Thursday afternoon by email to notify them if they able to visit our wonderful cafe. Participation in the end of the marking period reward and other events can be determined by a student's good standing status. Please reach out to your assistant principal if you have any questions or concerns.
Criteria used to determine good standing:
1. Students must maintain passing grades (60% or higher for the marking period grade). Students are allowed to have one course grade lower than 60%.
2. Students must have 9 or fewer unexcused absences in the past two months.
3. Students must adhere to the student code of conduct as explained in the Student Handbook. Repeated or multiple minor infractions or serious violations result in being removed from good standing.
