Principal's Message
Happy Sunday!
I hope you're enjoying the cooler weather! It's been fantastic to have a cool breeze coming through my house instead of the excessive temps of the last heatwave!!!
We have three events coming up that we'd like to invite you to!! Two of the events are this week and one is NEXT week!
1) Susan Nelson has a Community Advisory Partners (CAP) meeting planned for this Wednesday, September 18, from 2-3 pm, in our multi-Purpose Room. The meeting is about our school plans and a review of how we're spending some of our State funds to help students be successful. If you'd like to hear more, please join us!!!
2) Coffee with the Principals, Thursday, September 19
- 9 -10 am (on the patio in front of the main office)
- 6:30 - 7:30 pm (in the Library)
- Choose the time of the day that works for you!
- Refreshments provided (Coffee and Hot Cocoa)
Coffee with the Principals will be a very informal event! This is an opportunity to have a "meet and greet" with your school admin team! You can stay for as long (or as little) as you would like. Mrs. Webb (our Assistant Principal) and I will have a couple of things that we'd like to talk about, and then we'll open it up for conversation! We'd love to meet you!
3) College & Career Fair
We have good news!! We'd like to invite you to our first ever College & Career Fair, taking place on Wednesday, September 25th at 6 PM on our campus. This event will be NEXT WEEK!
This event is designed to help all of our students--and especially juniors and seniors--to explore their post-high school options. There will be representatives from various colleges, trade schools, the armed forces, and workforce development. Since this event will be around dinner time, we will have Epic Eats here on campus available for food purchases. If you have specific questions about the College and Career Fair please reach out to our counselor, Jenny Mojica.
FOR STUDENTS:
If you are interested in volunteering at the College & Career Fair and earning community service hours while planning for your future, fill out this FORM.
There's a lot going on this week and NEXT! We hope you can join us for these activities!

REMINDER: ALL STUDENTS NEED A SCHOOL ID
Students: if you come to the front door of the school and don't have a school ID, we'll be asking for you to get one as soon as you enter the building! It only takes a few minutes! That will make it easier each time that you need to be "buzzed in" through the video doorbell system!
Students: PLEASE take a picture of your STUDENT ID with your cell phone!
This is so you will always have a copy in case you forget to bring it!
SNHS Logo Screens
You may notice some new "logo screens" installed as you enter and walk to classrooms at Susan Nelson. This is another safety feature provided by the district. When the logo screens are applied to the windows it makes it harder to see inside when the classroom lights are off. The designs are also a nice upgrade to our school decor! Check out the pictures below. The goal is for all of the interior classroom windows to be covered with varying designs of the logo screens!

Additionally, we will facilitate support groups for students who may be facing mental health challenges or have been impacted by suicide. Our goal is to provide resources and a safe space for all who need it. Interested in Joining a Support Group Click HERE

- Our First College and Career Fair: Pathways to Your Future on Wednesday, Sept. 25th at 6pm. This event is a great chance for students to check out different school and job options and help them make smart choices about their future. Whether your child is thinking about college or other career paths, this event will give them lots of useful information. I can’t wait to see you there! If we haven't met already, come on by and say hi!

Opportunities for Students from the City of Temecula
The City of Temecula’s Workforce & Education Development Division has shared with us some upcoming events that can be a big benefit to our students!
- Rocktober is an annual fall music competition that will be held on Saturday, October 26th in the Temecula Valley region. This event is a celebration of young and talented musicians who come together to showcase their skills and compete for exciting prizes. The competition takes place at the Community Recreation Center Amphitheater and features a total of 16 bands and musicians delivering outstanding performances to both a lively audience and a panel of judges. Participants include solo singers and bands.
- The annual Young Women's Career Conference is a breakfast event scheduled for the Thursday, December 5th at the Temecula Conference Center from 8:00 am to 10:00 am. This inspiring gathering brings together 150 high school girls from across Temecula, providing them with valuable insights into a wide array of career paths guided by empowering female industry leaders. Each year, the City invites a select number of students and a representative from each high school in the City. The City will share more information as we get closer to December! STAY TUNED!
