Spooky Kooky is an early Halloween treat!
The first production of the year for the Neshaminy HS Drama Roadies was a real Halloween treat for families attending the live performance in Theodore Kloos Auditorium on October 23. The original show, which is written, choreographed, produced and directed by the students, includes a series of Halloween-themed comedy sketches bookmarked by two very energetic dance numbers. This is the 21st edition of Spooky and Kooky for the Roadies, who describe the family-friendly show as far more kooky than spooky.
Podcast highlights Neshaminy theater program
The Neshaminy Coalition for Youth, an independent non-profit community group dedicated to programs that support the health and well-being of children in the community, just released their latest youth podcast in October. This episode is dedicated to Neshaminy's Summer Stock program, a 60-year tradition that offers students a professional-level theater program each July. The podcast is one in a series, "Giving Youth a Voice," which is produced by the Coalition and features Neshaminy students conducting interviews and discussing a variety of topics. All podcast episodes are available for free on multiple podcast platforms including Apple, Android and other podcast apps.
New online Portal offers detailed academic information
Neshaminy is excited to introduce the LinkIt! Student Portal, a valuable tool that allows parents and guardians to access their student's academic data with ease. Through this portal, they can view their child’s performance on both benchmark and state assessments, along with a variety of other local assessments. The service can be accessed by loging into the LinkIt! Student Portal using their child’s school-issued Chromebook, then entering their student username and password.
This platform provides a clear, comprehensive overview of a student's progress and performance, supporting a partnership in their academic success. Step-by-step instructions can be found on the Neshaminy School District website at the link below.
Veterans invited to join Maple Point ceremony
Area veterans are invited to attend the annual Maple Point Veterans Day Ceremony on Friday, November 8. It will be held in the auditorium at Maple Point Middle School. This annual ceremony offers our local veterans the opportunity to gather with their fellow veterans during a pre-ceremony light breakfast between 9:30 and 10:30 am, followed by a formal ceremony at 10:30 am which will be attended by Maple Point eighth-grade students, faculty and administrators, and local dignitaries. During the ceremony, each veteran will be recognized individually on stage and enjoy patriotic speeches and musical performances by the students. Weather-permitting, a photo will be taken of the veterans and students following the ceremony gathered around a large American flag painted on the grounds outside the school.
This Maple Point tradition draws up to 100 veterans each year. There is no charge to participate, and veterans of any era are welcome to attend. Pre-registration is required and can be completed online at https://forms.gle/yYBgX9qdkR93jyrw6. For questions about the ceremony, please contact the Main Office at Maple Point Middle School at 215-809-6230.
Carl Sandburg MS is also honoring veterans by creating a field of flags outside the school in November, with donated proceeds benefiting the Disabled Veterans of America. Donations were collected during the month of October and the flags will be placed in front of the school in early November.
Got Tech? Join the 2025 Steam Expo!
The 2025 Neshaminy STEAM Expo will be held on Thursday, April 10 from 6:30 - 8:30 pm at Neshaminy High School. Construction at Core Creek Elementary School is proceeding rapidly and is still on track for completion by mid-December. The new building is expected to open for students following the Christmas break in January. A decision to bus all students to the new school was made by the School Board and transportation plans are being shared with all Pearl S. Buck families, whose students will be attending the new school.
An Open House will be held at Pearl S. Buck Elementary School on Thursday, November 21 to give Buck families, staff, alumni and former students the opportunity to visit the school one more time. The event will take place from 6-8 pm.
No excuse, Attendance matters!
The "Every Day Every Student" campaign is continuing throughout the school year! As a reminder, here is the information about student absences that was shared with Neshaminy families recently:
"An absence is an EXCUSED absence for any of the following reasons: illness, quarantine, death of an immediate family member, medical or dental appointments, authorized school activities, exceptionally urgent reasons, required court attendance, religious holidays observed by bona fide religious groups, religious instruction up to 36 hours per school year, as per the Pennsylvania School Code.
In the case of an excused absence, you can make up any work or tests missed. However, the student is responsible for making arrangements with their teachers for make-up work.
All student absences are marked UNEXCUSED until an excuse note is submitted to your child's school. An UNEXCUSED absence is a serious matter. It occurs when a student is absent for reasons other than those listed as excused. Please note that an unexcused absence is unlawful for all students of compulsory school age and can lead to significant consequences."

Hoover students record a video for AAC Awareness Month
A group of Herbert Hoover ES students wanted to share information about AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) Awareness Month, so they created the video above. AAC is the use of various means such as "talkers" (tablets that translate pictures into speech), picture books, or even sign language to help students who are not fully able to use their speech to communicate. For children with apraxia of speech, a neurological disorder, the inability to effectively communicate may lead to frustration, anxiety, and/or reduced self-confidence. Understanding their unique needs and utilizing alternate means of communication help to lower the learning gap and improve their school experience.
