Weekly Highlights!
Coronado History
Docents from the Coronado Historical Association gave lessons to our 3rd grade students on the history and evolution of Coronado Island.
Village Choir
Our choir did an amazing job performing at our Friday flagpole assembly.
Putting it All Together
Our TK students are busy learning their letter sounds, and starting to blend them together to make words which is a foundational skill in learning how to read.
No U-Turns on H Avenue
In order to make sure our arrival and dismissal process is safe and efficient, please do not U-turn on H avenue. The Coronado police have notified the school that they will be issuing citations for parking and driving violations during dismissal.
California Healthy Kids Parent Survey (15 Minutes)
CUSD is asking that you complete the California Healthy Kids Parent Survey to learn more about your opinions regarding school culture and climate. This survey is an opportunity to communicate your perceptions about your child’s school. This letter explains the survey and, at the bottom of the page, provides your URL and access instructions. If you have any questions about this survey please contact the school counselor.
The purpose of this survey is to obtain parent perceptions about the school.
Your participation is voluntary. It is also very important. The information you provide will help guide the district and school efforts to promote safety, enhance learning supports, and improve student achievement.
- This is an anonymous survey. It is designed so that no one can be identified from the data. You do not have to respond to any questions that you feel could be used to identify you. Simply skip any such questions.
- All questions apply to the school you selected.
- The results are for the use of your district. The California Department of Education and WestEd will preserve data confidentiality and refer any data requests to the district.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR ACCESSING THE SURVEY
If you have more than one child at this school, you will only need to complete one survey for this school. Please fill out just one survey about the school using your oldest child as a reference.
After the first page of the survey, you will be able to change the language to one of 18 options.

Volunteer Weekly Sign in Form (Updated)
We appreciate all of the volunteers working at our school on a daily basis! In order to make the sign in process more streamlined, please fill out this form for any days and times that you will be volunteering in the upcoming week, and we will have your pass pre-printed out for you. Please make sure that you arrive within 30 minutes of your anticipated arrival for your pass to be pre-printed.
Leader in Me Family Resources
This Month's focus is on Habit 6: Synergize. This habit is about working cooperatively with others, celebrating differences, and being open-minded. Please see the family connection flier to continue the conversation about effective communication at home.
Village School Wide Goal: Reducing Chronic Absenteeism
This year, one of our goals is to reduce Chronic Absenteeism from 11% to 5%. The effects of Chronic Absenteeism on a student are significant and more information is located here. Absenteeism whether excused or unexcused also has a financial impact on our school as we do not receive the daily revenue from students who are absent. The graph below shows our progress each month of being above 95% Average Daily Attendance. We will also include roughly how much revenue the school has lost due to absences. If we reach our monthly goal, each student will receive a popsicle at lunch.
Total Absences: 3625
Revenue lost due to absences: $199,375
We have reached our goal in the following months:
- September!
- October!
- November!
- December!
- January!
- February!
