VOLUME 9 - JANUARY 15, 2025
Dear Owl Families,
We are thrilled to have welcomed our scholars and educators back to the building. It's wonderful to see everyone quickly settling into their routines and engaging in a ton of great learning. As we are currently in the window for our NWEA testing, we want to remind all scholars to get plenty of rest at night to perform their best.
Despite the cold weather, there is a lot happening at Riverside, and we are excited about the opportunities and activities ahead. We deeply appreciate the ongoing support from our families, which makes all the difference in our community.
Thank you for being a part of the Riverside family!
With Love,
Ms. Kama-Starr and Mr. Cohen

FROM THE DESK OF NURSE UPPERMAN
January brings us into the height of winter, and staying healthy is more important than ever! Please remember to keep your child home if they are feeling sick to help prevent the spread of illness. Encourage your family to stay active, eat nutritious meals, and focus on all aspects of wellness. Together, we can make health a priority this season!
Is Exercising in Cold Weather a Better Workout?
Staying hydrated is crucial for students' health and learning. We encourage all students to bring a water bottle to school each day. Having a water bottle helps ensure they can easily access water throughout the day, which supports their concentration, energy levels, and overall well-being. Let's work together to keep our students hydrated and ready to learn!
Remember that the best way to prevent disease is to do frequent handwashing and staying away from those that are ill. Wear a mask if you must!

OUTDOOR RECESS
As the weather cools down, we want to remind families that outdoor recess will continue whenever it’s above 32°F and skies are clear. Fresh air and active play are essential for students’ health and focus, so please ensure your child is dressed for the weather. Hats, gloves, warm coats, and sturdy shoes are a must to stay comfortable and enjoy the fun. Thank you for helping us keep recess safe and enjoyable for everyone!
RIVERSIDE SWAG SHOP
We are opening a Riverside Swag Shop. We will keep it open all year and new items will be added throughout the year. If you have suggestions, please reach out to Ms. Kama-Starr, Mr. Cohen, or Ms. Davis. Please note this is not a fundraiser. We are simply offering this because families have asked about purchasing Riverside items. As items are ordered they will be printed and mailed directly to your home.

ATTENDANCE
- Please call the office (216-838-6700) if your child will not be at school.
- Scholars are tardy after 9:35AM.
- Scholars will not be released early from school without the office receiving communication and consent from a family member in advance. We also ask that scholars are not picked up between 3:00PM - 4:05PM. This is to support our preparations for dismissal.
