Principal's Message...
It has been another great week at Spalding Drive! I know everyone was ready to get back to school after a crazy couple of days last week with the storms. Our 3rd graders are fine-tuning their multiplication skills while our 2nd graders are just starting learn about multiplication.
This week I had the privilege of celebrating our Teacher of the Year and our Professional of the Year at the district level. Rachel Wilkinson and Lisa Kiethly were recognized for this honor in the spring and it was a joy to see them celebrated one more time. Please make sure to congratulate them one more time if you see them in the hallways!
I do encourage questions, suggestions, and any feedback you have throughout the school year. Please always feel free to reach out to me by email (rosenthall@fultonschools.org).
In Partnership,
Jennifer
From the Clinic....
Parents , please remember to notify both your teachers and myself in the Clinic (grayc@fultonschools.org) if your child contracts a Communicable Illness. If we find a cluster of illnesses in your classroom, it generates a letter home so that you as parents can also look out for symptoms. (Examples : Pink Eye, Covid, Strep, Croup, Lice, Pneumonia, etc etc.)
Lost and Found Info: Please write your child’s name in all items they bring to school. We have a rack full of jackets with no names, as well as water bottles and lunch boxes.
Staff Spotlight...
Each week we will spotlight a different staff member! There are so many amazing adults here at SDE and I know everyone would love to learn a little more about each of them.
This week our spotlight is one of our new staff members, Alia Shalabi. Alia is the new face of our front desk!!

October is National Bullying Prevention Month. Bullying Prevention Month is a nationwide call to action around educating communities to their roles in bullying prevention and to educate and raise awareness of bullying prevention. Everyone can share in the efforts to Stop Bullying and Stand Up for Kindness. Fulton County Schools will recognize Bullying Prevention Month by encouraging all staff and students to WEAR ROYAL BLUE and #FCSBeKind on Monday, October 7th.
Donuts with Grown Ups
Donuts with Grownups is coming up on Wednesday, October 9th from 7:10-7:40 in the cafeteria! Students can start their day enjoying a donut with a parent or special grownup. If you can, please stick around for a few minutes after your child goes to class for our first General PTO board meeting/Principal's Coffee Chat. I am excited to welcome back one of our very own parents, Alia El-Sawi to educate us on how to keep our children safe in a digital world. Here is a blurb about her session:
This session will aim to give parents/guardians a head start on how to have conversations with their children on navigating online and gaming safety. Additionally, parents and guardians will be given tools and resources on how to keep kids protected from online predators and engage in regular safety assessments with their kids.
And don't forget: October 9th is also National Walk and Roll to School Day so consider walking or riding bikes to school!
