The Week Through Pictures
INFORMATION FOR FAMILIES
Pennies for Shoes - This Week!
Pennies for Shoes is such an incredible campaign for the City of Olathe. All of the money raised stays right here to support Olathe kids through the Mayor Children’s fund. The first $25,000 raised goes to provide thousands of pairs of shoes for students that attend school in our district. Any money raised beyond that is donated to the Braden Robertson Student Mental Health Fund that provides grants through the foundation for Olathe students.
Every day will be a “hat day” this week in an effort to raise money for this great cause. Students who want to participate can either pay $5 on Monday or $1 every day during WAG to wear their hat. WAG teachers will give a PAW sticker to those who pay. The sticker indicates that they paid and can wear their hat. Students must have exact change, or they can donate the change. Teachers will not be able to give change. All donations including payments for hat days is a WAG competition. The WAG class at each grade level that collects the most donations will win donuts and open gym time.
Staff Holiday Gift
When students move from elementary school to middle school and move from one classroom teacher to many, it makes it more difficult to celebrate all of their teachers during the holiday season. Of course, families are welcome to provide their own small gifts of appreciation. However, as a building, we want to make sure we can celebrate all of our staff members including support staff. If our families would like to contribute to our staff holiday gift, we are asking for $10 gift cards for morning drink places - Starbucks, Pour, QT, Sonic, Dutch Bros, Scooters, 7 Brew - anywhere! Please drop off gift cards in the office by the end of the day on Monday, December 16. Thank you in advance for your generosity as we thank our staff for a great first semester!
Drop off / Pick Up - Please Review
With the colder weather here, more students are being dropped off and picked up. Please review all care line procedures and please follow the outlined traffic flow. Following the set traffic flow is especially important when it is dark in the morning. We have over 800 people coming to the building every day and we want to ensure everyone arrives safely.
The PRT car loop only enters the west parking lot by turning left. This means all cars must come north on Valley Road, turn right on 107th Street and then turn left into the parking lot. We understand this may not be ideal for some, especially those of you who live just east of the school, however, the traffic pattern was set by the city in an effort to protect the neighborhoods to the east and to prevent interference with the bus route. We kindly ask that everyone follows the set traffic pattern and that all car riders are dropped off at the west entrance. It only works if everyone follows the same route.
Students may be dropped off starting at 7:30am.
Students should not be dropped off in the front bus loop, the front turn lane or on 107th street.
In car line, cars should pull through the cross walk and up to the light pole fitting in three cars in front of the cross walk.

Anxiety in Children Presentation Links
If you were unable to attend the Zoom for Anxiety in Children, the session was recorded. Here are the links to the presentation to watch at your convenience. It is in two parts as Zoom only allowed us access for a certain time frame, so it kicked us off, and we had to log back on and begin recording again.

Regular School Attendance Matters
Having your student present and on time every day for learning is a key factor in their success. As we do every year, administration monitors student attendance and will reach out to families when concerns arise.
If your student is sick, please be sure to communicate with the office. Students should not attend school if they have a fever over 100 degrees and/or if they have thrown up. Students must be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school.
Please see the graphic below. This is a great reminder of just how quickly time away from school can add up. Regular student attendance is so important.
