Do you have students interested in science and research? Connect them with a cardiologist for an exclusive mentorship opportunity with the American College of Cardiology (ACC)! ACC’s Young Scholar Program pairs enterprising high school juniors and seniors with ACC members for a year of mentored research and education on cardiovascular disease.

The ACC is a globally recognized membership association focused on cardiology, with over 54,000 members in over 141 countries. We are committed to supporting current cardiology professionals as they work to transform cardiovascular care. We’re also dedicated to strengthening the pipeline of future talent.

Young Scholars will have the opportunity to attend ACC’s Annual Scientific Session and local ACC State Chapter meetings (safety permitting), and meet regularly with their mentors on virtual calls.

Applications are due by Dec. 1, so let your promising students know about the program and encourage them to visit ACC.org/YoungScholars for more information and to begin their application!

The School Counseling Department uses Naviance to help our students in the college and career exploration process. Every student has access to an account to research careers, colleges, and search for scholarships. Please see the directions below to access your account.

Richland County School District 02 – Naviance Student Access

Richland County School District 02’s students will access Naviance through Clever. To access Naviance, please follow the steps below:

3. 3. Once you have accessed Clever, you will click on the Naviance app icon.

Class of 2021 parent/student senior conferences and/or IGP conferences will begin on September 21st. Please check your email beginning September 14th for an invite from your child's school counselor to schedule your appointment. In addition, your student will receive an invitation to schedule a meeting with one of our Career Development Facilitators (CDF) if he/she needs additional resources and support in planning for life after high school.

Sessions include Admissions Myth Buster, What Juniors should be doing now, Health Science programs, Exploring Music Programs, NCAA Eligibility, NC College Sessions, VA College sessions, HBCU Night, and 200+ More!!

Student Registration
Students should register below for each session that they want to attend. Once they register, they’ll receive a confirmation email with their unique link to join the Zoom webinar. (Students will also receive a barcode, but the barcode is not necessary for this virtual event.) When students register, they are sharing their registration information only with colleges presenting on that particular panel. StriveScan does not sell or share personally identifiable student information with any other third parties. Students should participate live so they can ask questions and interact with the college admission counselors. If students are unable to attend live, we still encourage them to register for the sessions they are interested in and recordings will be available here later.

Parents
Parents should register their students using their student’s information.

Spring Valley will host an ASVAB test on October 6. Registration is limited and open to SENIORS. Please email Mrs. Wright (vawright@richland2.org) to register.
