Congratulations to senior, Charlie Hayes on being selected as Lakeville South High School's Rotary Student of the Month!

Earlier this week, Lakeville Rotary Club held their annual STRIVE Breakfast Celebration, where they recognized students from Lakeville North High School and Lakeville South High School, who completed our STRIVE mentorship program. Lakeville South seniors from left to right: Josh Beckman, Brody Garlie, Tyler Frey, Hayden Strong, Jordan Campbell, Claire Bronson, Ayris Collins, Kaitlin Lamm, Muriel Kashale, Tayvia Watkins and Libby Stene. Congratulations to the class of 2024! We can't wait to see what your bright futures have in store.

What is Link Crew? Link Crew is a group of Juniors and Seniors that help 9th graders transition into high school. Link Crew leaders lead freshmen orientation and conduct check-ins throughout the school year.

• Who can attend? This event is open to all Juniors and Seniors. Sophomores may attend if invited by an upper classman. This event is not open to Freshmen. No guests over 20 years old.
• If a student brings a guest from outside of the Lakeville School District, the Guest Form needs to be filled out and returned in advance of the event. These can be retrieved from the Dean's Office or you can print a copy at home (Click Here).
  
  
• Tickets: Dance tickets are ONLY available online - $35 each. No ticket sales at the door. You will need your student ID number to purchase tickets. Order at LSHS GoFan.
  
  
• Parking options: $20 (Self parking), $15 (Valet) or $30 (Overnight parking). Complimentary self parking is also available in the East and West MOA parking ramps.

Thank you to the National Guard for providing our Connections classes with breakfast!

What a great turnout for our first school-wide Job Fair held during the school day on Thursday, April 18! Students walked around the main gymnasium and met representatives from businesses and organizations in Lakeville and surrounding communities. In total, 28 businesses participated with information, swag, and activities for students to try. All of them are hiring students from as young as age 14 to 18+.

The event was organized by Amy Juaire, LSHS College and Career Center, in partnership with Krista Jech, President and Kim Sabers, Coordinator of the Lakeville Chamber of Commerce. It was the first time a job fair specifically for local summer jobs was held at the school. It was a great way for students to not only find potential employment, but also work on their networking and interviewing skills.

For students who were not able to come, we wanted to share a resource with you if you are looking for a job. Many of the businesses that attended the Job Fair are listed here but there are many more businesses hiring that could not attend. We were lucky to host author Benjamin Percy, as part of our annual collaboration with Lakeville Friends of the Library/Friends with Books series today in the LSHS auditorium during 2nd hour. Ben Percy is an award-winning novelist, comics writer and screenwriter. He is the author of seven novels — including this year's Books with Friends selection The Ninth Metal, the first novel in his sci-fi, crime and superhero Comet Cycle trilogy. Benjamin Percy lives in Northfield.

His honors include the Whiting Award, an NEA fellowship, two Pushcart Prizes, the iHeart Radio Award for Best Scripted Podcast, and inclusion in Best American Short Stories. He will be at the Lakeville Area Arts Center tomorrow evening, Saturday, April 20, 7:30 PM. For more information and tickets: visit: Heritage Library Friends.

The Lakeville Heritage Library gave us 10 copies of the book The Ninth Metal and Mr. Percy signed one for us today!
