We are so close to meeting our school- wide reading challenge goal! Beagles have been logging their reading to send Joy’s team to Mystery Island. We hope to recognize everyone’s reading efforts later this month. (Shhh….a fun surprise is that the celebration involves silly string!)

We welcomed Oregon Book Awards author Waka T. Brown to Bridlemile this week! Waka T. Brown’s novels have featured middle school students, and this latest book is her first picture book. Beagles enjoyed a reading from Ms. Brown’s ‘Perfect’, and they learned ‘inside scoop’ information about the book illustrations. (Ask your Beagle about the dog in the book.) Ms. Brown shared her love of reading, writing, storytelling, and also gave advice about the writing process during the Q&A session.

Thank you to those who ordered greenery during the Bridlemile Elementary PTA Fundraiser to support the 5th Grade Committee!

Your items will be available for pick up this Saturday, December 7th, between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm at the school.

Find us near the front door. If you forgot something- there will be a few remaining items available for purchase as well as trees during the Foundation's sale!

The students have been hard at work preparing for the Winter Concerts! We are very excited to share our music with the community.

All concerts begin at 6:30. We are asking students to arrive at 6:15 and go to the library. Each performance is approximately 30 minutes.

Thank you to everyone who dropped off egg cartons. Thanks to you, we have all we need for our upcoming projects!

The Bridlemile 5th Grade Leadership wants to thank everyone in the community who participated in our annual food drive. We filled over four large food barrels and donated over _463_ pounds of food to the Neighborhood House Food Pantry. We were able to help many families in SW Portland have food on their tables for the holidays.

Ida B. Wells SchnitzerCares Club Fundraiser is hosting a fundraiser on December 14th at the Butterfly Effect Pottery Studio in Multnomah Village. Their goal is to raise funds that will be distributed to non-profits supporting local healthcare access.
