Happy Sunday HES Family & Friends!

I hope that each of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends. We're looking forward to getting back into action this week with our students and staff as we prepare for our end of the nine week assessments. Our students were working hard before the break and can't wait to see the growth they have made over the past nine weeks.

We have two exciting events taking place this week that we hope you have made plans to join us as we prepare to close out this first semester with family events. We will have our annual Winter Wonderland Read-In this Tuesday, December 3rd. We will have lots of activities for parents and kids to enjoy, as well as performances from some of our student leaders. We will also host our Christmas Lunch with parents of students in grades 2-4 on Thursday, December 5th. If you have not reserved your spot, please do so before this Wednesday. Thank you for your continued support and we hope to see you in the place soon!

Friendly Reminders:

• School starts at 8:00 a.m. Your child will be marked tardy if they arrive at 8:00 a.m. and any time afterwards.
  
• Please arrive before 8:00 a.m. to ensure that your child has time to eat breakfast before classes begin. The Car Rider door is closed at 8:00 a.m. daily. Students must be dropped off and signed in by a parent or guardian in the front after this time.
• Any individual entering the doors of Hillcrest Elementary, must be dressed appropriately. Please refrain from wearing pajamas and revealing clothing attire.
• Breakfast is served to all students daily from 7:30 a.m. - 8:00 a.m. with a student choice of hot or cold.
• Our School Dismissal process begins at 2:55 p.m. each day.
  
• Students that are not picked up at the car rider area by 3:15 p.m. will be taken to the front office to be released. Please make arrangements to have your child picked up no later than 3:30 p.m.
• Make right turns ONLY when exiting the car rider drop-off/pick-up line.
• Please allow our staff to enter the parking lot in the mornings by keeping the car rider lane open at the entrance near the playground.
• Car Rider Parents: To help ensure the safety of loading and unloading our precious cargo (students), please place your car in the Park position while students are entering/exiting the vehicle.

Congratulations to our HES School Nutrition Staff on their recent review and earning a score of 100 (A)!!!! We appreciate all that they do in providing delicious meals for our students, staff, and families!

Please be reminded of our dress code expectations. We do encourage you to review our dress code policy, but also providing a few reminders below. Also, as the weather changes and students begin wearing jackets/sweaters, please place your child's name inside of items.

• Sweat shirts and hoodies may be worn to school, but hoods cannot be worn inside of school/classroom.
• Leggings cannot be worn as "stand alone." They can be worn under a solid colored skirt/shorts.
• Jeans/Pants may not have any rips, holes, tears, or frays.
• Shoes must have a strap on the back of them. No Crocs allowed at school.

Please help us by making sure your child is appropriately dressed before coming to school each day.

It's important for students to attend school daily so that they can receive the needed instruction in order for them to be successful. It is also important for students to arrive to school on time. If your child is absent, please submit a written parent excuses and/or doctor's notes for your child upon their first day of return to school. This helps the school clear up any attendance issues and prevents us from forwarding names on to the next level due to an excessive amount of unexcused absences. Please help do your part by making sure your child is present at school and on time. Students should arrive no later than 8:00 a.m.

If your child is absent for any reason, please make sure you send a written excuse or doctor's excuse with them upon their return to school.

Hillcrest is a K-5 Elementary Themed Charter School that opened in August 2011. Our theme is L. E. A. P which is Leadership, Environmental Awareness, and Public Service.
