Bingham Blast
Week of October 28th
Opening Message
I wanted to take a moment with so much gratitude to the PTA Leadership Team and Bingham Boo Leadership Team for putting together such a well attended wonderful event last Friday. Your time and effort does not go unnoticed. A special shout out to Ceanne Wienner for chairing such a large event with great success.
Our school was filled with students, both current and past (working the event), and families enjoying a Friday night at school. What was most notable to me was the feel of "community" at school. It was such a pleasure overhearing new introductions made between parents as their kids brought them together. What a night!
It was an exciting week for our Kindergarten and Junior Kindergarten students this week as both grades were able to attend Bowers Farm for a field trip. Birmingham School District is so good at experiential learning experiences beyond the 4 walls of the classroom.
As we look ahead to this week, I am sure Halloween festivities will be the highlight. Our school will host a school only sing-along on Thursday morning, followed by classroom parties and ending with the parade. Please see additional details below.
Finally, this coming week, The Parent Teacher Conference (PTC FAST sign up link) will come out this coming week on Wednesday in a stand alone email. Families will have until Monday, Nov 11th to sign up for conferences which will be held in person at school on Nov 13th and 14th.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Joanna

Halloween Celebrations
We are looking forward to the Halloween time of year at Bingham Farms this school year!
On Tuesday, October 31st, we are encouraging students to wear their costumes and will celebrate in their classrooms with classroom parties as well as participate in a school wide sing-along. We are planning to host our annual parade for families to enjoy. The parade will begin at 11am, followed by our half day dismissal. The students will parade in and around the school with a parent viewing area (on the back playground - weather permitting).
We request that the children select costumes of a non-violent and appropriate theme to wear at our school events. In particular, costumes that portray blood, death, violence, and those of similar nature, are strongly discouraged. We are asking Bingham parents/guardians if you decide to dress up for our Bingham Farms events, that they staff must be able to recognize you as a parent/guardian at Bingham. Please do not wear a mask or extreme make-up that will hide your identity. We thank you for helping to make our Halloween recognition a pleasant and fun-filled experience for children of all ages.
Our goal is to ensure that all families and students feel completely accepted, included, valued and connected to the Bingham school community. We teach all students to be proud of their identities, view diversity as an asset, and to demonstrate empathy and compassion for others. If your family does NOT celebrate Halloween, each year we provide alternative fun activities for students who do not celebrate. Please notify your child’s teacher if you would prefer that your son/daughter not participate in Halloween festivities.
