STAFF OF THE WEEK
This week’s Staff of the Week is funny, helpful and awesome. His students think he is an amazing math teacher and teaches them new things each and every day. He is also one to give out a lot of Viking Pride stamps! Congratulations to our 5 Orange Math Teacher, Mr. Muehlbauer!
A Message about Messages
Did your child forget their water bottle today? How about their school ID? Did you forget to talk about the after school pick up plan?
Non-urgent items that are dropped off are posted on the lunch slides as a message for your student to come to the office. We will not call in to rooms for things like this. Every time we need to call in to a classroom, teaching and learning is disrupted.
If you need to get a message to your child, please contact us early as possible. Messages called in after 2:30 can be difficult to pass on to your child due to end of day transitions. It is recommended to write any after school plans or transportation information in your child's assignment notebook. Students have the notebook with them at all times, and it can be a great resource at the end of that day for these reminders.

Conferences- October 24th, 3:30-7:30
At Silverbrook, we communicate with families through a variety of methods: house conference, with newsletters, Skyward emails, Canvas, and Skyward gradebook. Before requesting a conference, we recommend that you talk with your child about the beginning of their school year. This should include a visit to Skyward to review grades and missing assignments. After reviewing this information, if you feel that you would like to move forward with scheduling a conference with your students' teachers, you can follow the instructions attached.
Conferences will be on Thursday, October 24th from 3:30-7:30pm. These 10 minute conferences are assumed to be in person, however virtual or phone conferences are available upon request. If conference times have been filled for the evening or the conference date or times do not work for your schedule, please contact your student’s house teachers or key teachers to determine an alternate date/time.
If you have questions about conference scheduling or need assistance logging in to your Skyward Account to secure a conference, please feel free to reach out to Melissa Novales at mnovales@wbsd-schools.org or call 262-335-5506.
Please use this link to view instructions on how to sign up.
PTO needs your help!
Silverbrook parents, please help us support our teachers by providing a meal on parent-teacher conferences night, Thursday, October 24th. PTO will be providing party boxes of Cousins Subs. Please consider signing up to donate a side!
Non-perishable items can be brought to school anytime during the week of October 21st. Any perishable foods should be brought in on that Thursday.
Thank you!
LOOKING FOR OUR HUMANS!
- Have you noticed your child not wearing that sweatshirt you purchased for his/her back to school wardrobe? Is he/she missing a jacket? water bottle? shoe? It may be in our LOST AND FOUND! Please stop by before or after school to find that lost item. You may also search the rack when you come for conferences.
Supervisory Aides Wanted

Second Step
Week of 10/21/2024 Week of 10/21/2024 5th Grade Emotional Management: In this unit, fifth grade students learn how to identify emotions in themselves and apply strategies to manage their emotions. They will recognize the unique things that cause them to experience strong emotions, identify emotion-management strategies that work for them and anticipate and plan for situations that might cause them to experience strong emotions. Lesson: Strong Emotions Summary: In this week’s lesson, your child will learn that it’s possible to anticipate recurring situations that cause them to feel strong emotions so they can plan ways to manage those emotions in the future. Try This at Home: Tell your child about a recurring situation in your life that typically causes you to feel a strong emotion, like anger or frustration. Ask your child to tell you about similar situations in their life. 6th Grade Lesson: Monitoring Your Progress Summary: In this week’s lesson, your child will learn strategies for how to stay on track toward their goals. They’ll learn how to monitor their own progress, decide if they need to try new strategies, and determine when their goal is complete. Question: Ask your child about a goal they’re actively working toward. Ask them if they are encountering any roadblocks and how you can help them determine the next steps forward.
