Weekly Newsletter
Good evening Families,
Welcome back, students and families! We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving break and are ready for the exciting weeks ahead!
Before the break, the entire Morris Elementary community came together for a memorable Friendsgiving Feast. Our fifth-grade students did an incredible job serving their peers, showcasing leadership and teamwork. The celebration was made even more special by our Pre-K students, who warmed everyone’s hearts with an adorable song to kick off the meal.
With over 300 students in the gym, the atmosphere was filled with joy, smiles, and a delightful hum of chatter. It was a shining example of what makes our school community so special. This event wouldn’t have been possible without the amazing parent volunteers who prepared food, set up the gym, and helped the fifth graders create a meaningful craft for every student.
Mrs. Soules and I reflected on how fortunate we are to lead such a caring and connected school community. We hope you all enjoyed a relaxing break with your loved ones.
As we head into the next three weeks before our winter break, it’s natural for students to feel excitement and anticipation for the holidays. At school, we’ll continue focusing on reinforcing our ROAR expectations: Rise to the challenge, Own your actions, Always work together, Respect yourself & others.
To keep the momentum going, we’re challenging the entire student body to earn 2,000 ROAR tickets by December 18th. If they reach this goal, students will be rewarded with an assembly with theme of a Winter Carnival on December 19th a fun-filled celebration of their hard work and positive behavior.
We ask for your support at home by reminding your children of the importance of these expectations. Together, we can help our students stay focused and finish 2024 on a high note!
Thank you for your ongoing partnership. Let’s make these next few weeks wonderful for everyone!

Power of Presence Templates:
The Department’s "Power of Presence" initiative is celebrating all the reasons people attend school! The Department invites everyone — students from pre-K to adult, families, school staff, and educators — to submit a creative piece such as artwork, music, photography, video, or writing. To make it easier to get the community involved, DESE created an optional template for elementary school students and a flyer for middle school, high school and adult learners.
Interested individuals should complete the entry form (including the Media Agreement) and attach their creative piece to the form by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, December 20. One entry will be selected to be featured in a special commercial this spring!
I encourage families to participate in the Power of Presence Template. If you choose to participate, please let me know. Thank you!
Lenox Library Food Drive
GivingTuesday, which takes place this year on December 3, was created as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. It is an opportunity for people around the world to come together to thank, help, give, show kindness, and share what they have with those in need.
It is with this spirit of generosity in mind that Lenox Library once again will collect donations of non-perishable food items, as well as paper products and personal health care items, between November 1 and December 3, 2024. All donations will be given to the Lenox Food Pantry.
In addition, for every donated item, BIRCH Properties and Price Chopper’s Golub Foundation will donate $1 to the Lenox Library Association, which supports library programs and collections.
That’s right, your donation can do double the good this GivingTuesday!
We hope you’ll join us in nourishing our community’s bellies and brains. Every act of generosity, no matter how small, makes a difference.
Many thanks,
Katherine O’Neil, MLIS
