Student-Created Mural Lands on the Front Page!
Yesterday's Chelsea Record featured the story behind of the new mural that hangs in the Chelsea High School Library, created by senior Jasmine (Jay) Velasquez '25! Click here or use the button below to read about Jasmine's inspiration and how the piece, titled "Our Story in the Sky", came to be. Congratulations on a job well done, Jasmine!
January Name, Strength and Story Awards
Congratulations to four amazing educators who were recognized by Chelsea Public Schools at last Thursday's School Committee meeting as Name, Strength and Story Award recipients!
These four individuals are dedicated teachers who work tirelessly for their students to prepare them for success in the classroom and beyond, ensuring their students are known by their name, strength and story. They are examples of all the amazing educators we have at CPS.

Instructional Rounds Special Guests
Former CPS Deputy Superintendent Adam Deleidi, now Superintendent of Melrose visited CPS with some of his principals to view instructional rounds at the ELC and Berkowitz this week. Mr. Deleidi is looking to bring this practice to his schools.
English Learner Parent Advisory Council (ELPAC)
The MLE Department recently held its first English Learner Parent Advisory Council (ELPAC) meeting. During the meeting, families shared valuable input about what they appreciate about CPS and the MLLs Program, as well as suggestions for changes or additions.
Parents also expressed interest in having access to Adult English classes and resources to help support their children's education at home.
ACCESS Info Season for Families
At the Complex, the MLE coaches and team organized and facilitated an informational session for families about ACCESS 2.0, a state-required language assessment mandatory for all English Language Learners (ELLs).
During the session, families learned about the test's purpose and format and how the results are used to support student learning. They also had the opportunity to ask questions and engage in meaningful conversations with their child's ML educators.

EARLY LEARNING CENTER UPDATES
Reading Buddies
In Miss C.s first grade class. Students started reading buddies this week! They get to read the stories they have been practicing with Miss C. to their book buddy! Way to go readers!
HOOKS SCHOOL UPDATES
Poetry Units
Fourth Grade began a new poetry unit last week that students are diving into! We are working on partnered reading, sharing ideas about the text, and practicing our usage of figurative language. Students responding to text based questions and helping each other to find the correct evidence in the book.
KELLY SCHOOL UPDATES
The Kelly School's first coffee hour of 2025 had a special guest, Ms. Santos our biliteracy coach! Ms. Santos worked with families by exploring strategies students can apply at school and at home to support their reading and writing.
CHELSEA HIGH SCHOOL UPDATES
Ways to Give back
Support our young parenting/expecting students by donating either to their diaper/essentials drive.

CHELSEA OPPORTUNITY ACADEMY UPDATES
This Week at COA!
Student Jeniffer Merino celebrates after completing her presentation for Mr. Kelley’s Gentrification in Chelsea class, where she argued that gentrification has allowed Chelsea to improve amenities due to an increase in taxes.
Students, led by ELA teacher Giulia Basile, began a series of cooking classes at Greenroots learning a few recipes and a lot about food justice!
Students, led by ELA teacher Sela Kenen and School Counselor Lourdes Encarnacion visited The Boston Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (JATC) to learn about opportunities for post COA life.
On Friday Principal Adam Aronson accompanied a group of students to hear PSi capstone presentations for teachers Giulia Basile and Alvin Rivera!
