Recycling Opportunity! ๐๐
Hello Parents!
Interested in helping our environment? Do you enjoy organizing and planning? Well, then I have a volunteer job for you!! I'm seeking parents who would be interested in fulfilling a school wide passion project to help the City of Austin reach a goal to be a zero waste city by 2040.
We would begin this project by collecting clean and dry plastic grocery bags in a designated container one neighborhood grade level at a time. Once the time period is over to collect them, they would then be turned into a local recycling center.
If this is something you would be interested in, please contact me at: Tiffany.Horton2@leanderisd.org. Thank you! More information to come soon!
ART SUPPLY NEED ๐ง๐ปโ๐จ
The Art Room is in desperate need of Clorox Wipes and paper towels.
If you would like to donate it would be greatly appreciated!
THANK YOU!

Vandergrift Trunk or Treat
Each year Vandergrift High School hosts an annual trunk or treat and this year they would like to invite the families of their feeder elementary schools to participate into one huge community wide event.
Date: Wednesday. October 30th
Time: 5:30-7:30pm (we are asking that trunks be ready to go by 5:15pm)

Referrals for QUEST๐ก
Referrals for the QUEST program 2025-2026 school year will be open through March 1, 2025. Leanderโs tests students for GT/QUEST once a year in the spring.
Does your child possess some of these Common Characteristics of Gifted Children? (source: What is Giftedness?):
Comprehends material above their age peers
Surprising emotional depth and sensitivity
Strong curiosity and unique interests
Quirky sense of humor
Creative problem solving and imagination
Quick learning with minimal repetition
Self-aware, socially aware, and globally aware
These MAY be indicators that the GT/QUEST program could be beneficial to your child.
Screening for the GT/QUEST program is based on referral by any adult that knows the student. If you feel your child may have an educational need for gifted services, please complete the River Ridge QUEST Referral Forms in order for them to be screened for next yearโs GT/QUEST program. Parents will be notified by April 1, 2025 if their child moves to testing. Testing results will be sent home before the last day of school.

OCTOBER STAFF SPOTLIGHT ๐๐
Let's Celebrate Coach Honey! ๐ฏ
Not only is she an AMAZING PE teacher who loves her students and plans meaningful and fun activities she is also doing an amazing job with her class systems and structures! So much goes into creating a fun and safe space where the kiddos are running around the whole period and she is doing it so well! She is considerate of making her class fun and she is also so considerate of making our campus fun! She has come to me with so many great ideas and how to connect and have fun with teachers! I am so excited to see what she comes up with for our faculty meetings. She is also brainstorming ways to make our Pep Rallies/Assemblies more interactive! Thank you Coach Honey for identifying a need and becoming the solution! You are amazing and I am so grateful that you love our school and want to work to make it better! Also, you're beautiful inside and out!
Rocky, our golden rattler, now goes to you sweet lady!!! ๐ โญ
