FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
CSD Athletic Trainer is a Super Hero!
On Wednesday, May 22, 2024, CSD Athletic Trainer, Ms. Joslin Poole, traveled to a flag football game at Quakertown School District. While the teams were competing, a Quakertown student suffered a serious medical issue. Ms. Poole wasted no time tending to the student and providing potentially life-saving medical care. We are so proud of our athletic trainer and are grateful that she chose to attend the game with our students that day. Ms. Poole was commended by Dr. Bedden, the School Board, Mr. Creighton, Athletic Director, Mr. Van't Hoenderdaal, Principal of Quakertown Community High School and several student athletes at the May 28th Board meeting for her heroic efforts.
William Tennent Artist Recognized
Dr. Bedden selected a piece of art created by Jacob Iliescu, a William Tennent High School senior, for the Fine Arts Purchase Prize. The art piece will be displayed in the administration building for years to come. The piece that he made for his dad was completed in his mixed media class and he loves Philly sports. It was a pleasure to honor Jacob.

Davis Grade 1 Cinderella Stories - Let's Have a Ball!
This week, the first graders at Davis Elementary attended a Cinderella Ball in their classroom! The students and teachers wore fancy clothes and crowns and enjoyed elegant snacks like “Midnight kisses, magic wands, pumpkin carriages, and carriage wheels.”
Throughout Trimester 3, the first graders were immersed in the world of Cinderella. They enjoyed Cinderella stories from around the world, learning to closely read fictional texts by examining specific characteristics, lessons, and morals in each version, and comparing and contrasting major details. Additionally, they explored solving problems through determination, perseverance, and achieving dreams.
The Cinderella Ball celebrated the learning and growth the first graders experienced this year. The Wit & Wisdom curriculum has equipped them with reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills to support lifelong learning. The Cinderella Ball was an unforgettable celebration of a fantastic year!
Outdoor Classroom Dedication at Log College
Log College formally opened its outdoor classroom with a dedication ceremony. Names of former faculty members who passed while working at LCMS had their names added to a placard. Many of their family members were on hand for the dedication.

Chief Science Officers End of Year Presentation
On May 29, 2024, the Centennial Chief Science Officers (CSOs) went to Fairmount Water Works for their end-of-year meeting. During this meeting, students were given a tour of Fairmount Water Works. After the tour, they participated in escape room events, presented the outcomes of their 2023-2024 STEM initiatives, and were provided with awards for their dedication and hard work. Throughout the school year, the Centennial CSOs planned a science-fun day. Their goal was “to educate and inspire elementary and middle school students interested in the STEM field with interactive experiments.” The event had over 85 participants from the Centennial community, and it contained many different stations to engage and educate participants on both physical and life science. The CSOs are looking forward to planning and implementing their next STEM event within the Centennial School District!

It was a wonderful time of learning and career exploration.
Klinger 6th Grade Franklin Institute Trip
The Klinger Middle School 6th grade students enjoyed a beautiful day exploring the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia! Students interacted with new exhibits including The Wondrous Space, The Brain, and Working Machines, and hit the turf in the Sports Zone!
Wit & Wisdom End-of-Module Task
Mrs. Garrahan’s Kindergarten students showcased their knowledge and literacy skills as they completed the End-of-Module Task for Module 3 of Wit & Wisdom. Throughout Module 3, America, Then and Now, students journeyed through changes in America’s school life, home life, transportation, and communication. As they learned about the past, they also examined how texts are composed.
In the End-of-Module (EOM) Task, the students were prompted to choose an aspect of life in America and write an evidence-based informative paragraph to express the then and now of home life, school life, transportation, or communication. The writing task allowed students to showcase their content knowledge gained through the module’s study of nonfiction texts while answering the Essential Question: How has life in America changed over time?
The students actively engaged in the rehearsal process through participating in a Socratic Seminar where they had the opportunity to discuss their ideas with peers. Next, they planned rough drafts. Finally, the students published their informational writing on large posters that will be proudly displayed in the hallway.
