The Heart of Haleiwa
December 2024
North Shore VEX IQ Robotics Tournament
On November 9, 2024, Haleʻiwa Elementary School made history by hosting its very first robotics tournament! The event was a tremendous success, with 21 teams competing, including a team from Hilo. It was an exciting day of innovation, teamwork, and friendly competition.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to Mr. Haiola, our dedicated robotics coach and mentor, for spearheading this incredible event. His leadership and vision were key to bringing this experience to life for our students.
We also want to extend our gratitude to the many faculty, staff members, students, and parent volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes, contributing countless hours to the planning and preparation of the tournament. Your hard work truly paid off in making this event possible and memorable.
A special thank you is also due to Ms. Vidad, Ms. Banis, and Ms. Moeaveave for their efforts in preparing and running the concession stand. Ms. Mossman generously donated all of the coffee and supplies, too. All of your support helped keep everyone energized and fueled throughout the day.
We are incredibly proud of our students, our staff, and our community for coming together to make this robotics tournament a resounding success!

During the visit, they were able to observe how the school fosters student growth not only in core subjects but also in areas such as robotics, arts, and sports.
