GISH GLIMPSE
I Behave As Though This Is The Day I Will Be Remembered For.
Principal's Message - December 2019
Welcome to December, already. What a paradox: How can the beginning of this school year seem so long ago, yet it feels like time is flying by so quickly! Student Interim Progress Reports were sent home on November 29th. What a productive first term it has been! Research proves time and again that the single best way to improve student success in ALL subjects is simply by READING. Both fiction and non-fiction material are important! Studying and reviewing specific curriculum is also necessary, but general reading provides so many advantages. PLEASE support their learning by spending time with your children by reading with them, especially at bed time!
The 7 Habits continue to be incorporated into activities at Gish School. We believe that every Gish citizen is a leader! Thanks to our hardworking student leadership teams. Extra-curricular volleyball has now concluded, with everyone developing skills pertaining to volleyball, sportsmanship, and cooperation. Our Winter Activity Evening was a HUGE success. Thank you for the support and Food Bank contributions.
St. Albert Public Schools sincerely values stakeholder input. In addition to conducting surveys, trustees also host a Stakeholder Workshop to get opinions from all stakeholders. On the morning of January 31, students, parents, teachers, support staff, and administrators will rotate through a series of discussion groups to talk about important issues. If you are interested in representing Gish School as a parent, please contact Principal John Strembitsky asap. We have room for three or four parent participants.
We continue to host nearly 870 students at Gish School, and take pride in offering a very safe and caring educational environment for students. We are already planning for next year at all grades – especially Kindergarten! Please tell your friends and neighbours about all the benefits of Elmer S. Gish Elementary / Junior High School. Thank you for your continued support.
Merry Christmas!
