The Connection Week 10 Term 3
Huapai District School 29th September 2022
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
We close out Term 3 tomorrow.
Thank you for the support we have seen this term. It has been so good to see even more of what makes our school so good underway again. I am delighted to see two camps happen, sports events, celebrations, assemblies and trips out of the school.
It is good to see that our children are so solid.
Our absence rate through Term 2 & 3 is sitting consistently at 13%. Prior to COVID this was 11%. Just another indicator that our children are in a good place and secure.
We recently surveyed our students (Years 3 - 8).
Students gave a wide range of answers but the majority of the answers were positive pointing to overall good wellbeing. The following questions elicited responses that are 80% or more positive:
How well do you feel like your teacher teaches you in a way you learn best?
How safe and cared for do you feel at school by your teacher?
My teacher listens to my ideas.
I know what I'm supposed to be doing for my learning.
I know where to get help if I need it at school.
How often do you have someone to play with?
Students are saying they feel safe and cared for at school at a consistent level. COVID does not dominate the worries of our students.
We are noticing tiredness seems really significant as the term concludes. Though this is quite normal, it does highlight the need for children (and staff) to get a break. I trust you are able to find some time also.
Thanks again for your support.
John Petrie
Principal

School Photos
First Day Of Term 4
This year, our school photos will be held on the very first day of term 4. We are aiming to have our class photos taken outside this year. Please ensure any uniform orders are made in the next couple weeks to ensure everyone is looking sharp with their collared school shirt and correct shorts / skorts for the photo. Please note that the school office is closed over the school holidays, so if you are making an order and need items for day 1 of term 4, you will need to have it delivered directly to your house. The cut-off to have items delivered to the school is Sunday 25th September.
IMPORTANT: If you require a sibling photo, please fill in the form below. Close off for registrations is Friday 14th October.

Term 3 School (2nd) Donation Sponsored Prize Draw
Thank you to all those who have paid their school donations this year. This is such a key element to the success of our school. Your donation is what moves our school from good to great!
As a means of thanking and encouraging this we have 2 sponsored prize draws per year, for every family who has paid their school donation in full by the prize draw dates.
This draw was sponsored by Fuji Xerox and our own Huapai Plus.
Congratulations to the Channing-Hutt family on 1st prize of 50% off $100 Huapai Plus credit and 2 bottles of Aitkens Folly 2013 Pinor Gris.
2nd prize of 2 bottles of Aitkens Folly 2013 Pinor Gris went to the Khera family, with 3rd prize of 1 bottle of Aitkens Folly 2013 Pinor Gris going to the Marsland family.
Every dollar received through school donations will be used for resources that will touch the hands of your children.
St John Mufti Day Fundraiser
Thank you to all those who donated a gold coin last Thursday in support of our St John mufti day fundraiser. Together we raised over $550.00 for this amazing charitable organisation.
Thank you also to the Student Council team for their work in promoting this day and infusing fun into the week with face painting and balloons.
Over The School Holiday Break
Paths
We have heavy machinery on site in the first week to remove and replace broken paths at the entrance to the school. There will be Health & Safety measures in place, but if your children are seeking to come to school to play, we would prefer they are supervised or at least stay away from the machinery onsite.
Library
We are removing and relaying wall linings in the library as we start this upgrade.
Working Bee
We have had a generous offer from Oxcon - which is the company who has recently built the walking bridge across the railway. The company has offered their staff to work in the school for a day as a gift back to the community. This team will help strip the library and general working bee improvements around the school. They will be working onsite Tuesday 4th October.
Breakfast Club For Term 4
We are delighted to say that breakfast club will continue next term, thanks to the wonderful parents who have volunteered their time.
There will be a couple of small changes.
Breakfast Club will run in the hall from 8.40am to 8.55am.
We will direct children to the right place if needed.
If your child would like to join breakfast club for the first time, they must have parent permission. This can be done via Kindo.
We hope you have a wonderful break and look forward to seeing everyone back next term.
HDS Longball Tournament 2022
