Roberts Elementary School
Week of September 23-27
Message from the Principal 🍎
This week, students in Kindergarten continued their throwing and catching unit during physical education class. Coach Rowan taught students how to play Messy Backyard, where students practiced their throwing skills by tossing balls over the "fence" into the other teams backyard. Students were engaged and had lots of fun while incorporating their new skill.
🎾⚾🥎🏀🏐🏈
Students in Ms. Burke's classroom practiced adding, subtracting and identifying numbers before and after a digit. They had fun playing an interactive game where students spun a virtual wheel, displaying a new question for the classroom to solve.
Friday, October 4th is PICTURE DAY! Students will be taking individual and class photos. Makeup day will be held on November 18th. Order forms have been sent home with students. If you would like to order online you can visit geskusprint.com.
Just a reminder that there is NO SCHOOL on Thursday Oct 3rd in observance of the Rosh Hashanah holiday.
BE KIND, BE RESPONSIBLE, BE RESPECTFUL, BE SAFE

National Hispanic Heritage Month
During morning announcements, students have the opportunity to recognize and celebrate the contributions, diverse cultures, and extensive history of the American Latino community. Here is this week's fact:
- Roberto Clemente was the first Hispanic American baseball player to win a World Series and the first Latino in the Baseball Hall of Fame. He had more than 3,000 career hits.

Please be reminded that dogs are not permitted on school property during arrival and dismissal. We kindly ask for your cooperation in adhering to this policy to ensure the safety and comfortability of our school community. FALL INTO GREAT ATTENDANCE
Please keep in mind there is one official way to call in an absence:
(781) 393-2155 then press 1
If you call the absence in this way, we will input this and you can avoid receiving the messages from the school district.
This time of the year can be busy and schedules and routines often change as a result. It is best to try to minimize changes for children, and this also means to keep attendance in school consistent. If dismissal routines are changing for any reason, please alert the classroom teacher.
Our adjustment counselors, Ms. Susan Labelle (slabelle@medford.k12.ma.us) and Ms. Catherine Gamache (cgamache@medford.k12.ma.us) are available to answer any questions or concerns you may have regarding your child's attendance.
