A Word From Mrs. Loor
Dear Franklin Families,
To all who celebrate, I hope you had a happy Passover and wonderful seder with friends and family. Happy Easter! May your day be filled with joy and celebration.
Alright, here we go! We have so many exciting events and activities between now and the end of the year school year and given how late spring break was, it will be like a sprint to the finish line. I want to take the opportunity to thank you in advance for your support for the next 39 days of school.
Tomorrow, we will continue our holiday series with Passover led by our very own IDEAS teacher, Ms. Schwartz. We will have our cumulating Battle of Books events for 4th and 5th grade. 4th grade will be competing on Tuesday at Jefferson and 5th grade will be competing on Thursday at Lincoln-Hubbard. Good luck, everyone!
If you plan on taking your child to Take Your Child to Work Day on Thursday, April 24th, please make sure you indicate that as the reason for your child's absence on the Franklin Attendance Form. In addition, Earth Day Lessons will be taking place on Friday throughout the day. Thank you to all the parents/guardians who volunteered to teach these very important lessons.
Lastly, the Class Placement Parent Input Form will close on Wednesday, April 23rd. If there is any feedback you wish us to consider before we begin our class placement process, please let us know now.
Have a fantastic week!
With Warmest Regards,
Mrs. Loor
Author Visit
Our students had a great time meeting award-winning author, Candace Fleming. In her presentations, she captivated students by sharing how she finds "story seeds" in everyday life—small moments or curious facts that spark big ideas. She emphasized the importance of staying curious and of sharpening your sense of observation to notice the world in detail, just like writers do. Her engaging stories and writing tips inspired everyone to look more closely and think more creatively.
Thanks again to the SEF!

Jim Eisenreich
In 1982, Jim Eisenreich emerged as a prominent Major League Baseball (MLB) figure, showcasing his exceptional talent while representing the Minnesota Twins. However, his journey was not without challenges. Afflicted by the uncontrollable tics associated with Tourette’s Syndrome and later diagnosed with Asperger’s, Eisenreich faced an uphill battle. Regrettably, these conditions ultimately compelled him to leave the MLB in 1984.
With the aid of medication and a profound comprehension of his obstacles, Jim Eisenreich triumphantly reentered the realm of his beloved game in 1986. His perseverance bore fruit, as evidenced by his remarkable achievement of being crowned the Kansas City Royals Player of the Year in 1989. This accolade marked the beginning of a flourishing career that would span an impressive 15 years.
