MPHS - Important Things to Know!
December 15, 2024
MP Students and Families,
Hard to believe, but we have 15 school days until the end of Semester 1! Although this is the last week before Winter Break, there is still a lot of important work to finish. Many of our seniors have been involved with Project Graduation finalizing testing requirements needed for Graduation. This is also the last push for academic content before our End-of-Course SOLs. When we return from break, teachers will have two school days to review and then our SOL testing begins. Be sure to check out our SOL testing calendar below so that your student is prepared.
As we approach our Winter Break, I am grateful for the work your students have accomplished in the classroom, in school activities, and in athletics. We have so many amazing contributions from our students and school community! Just this weekend, our e-Sports Team competed in the State Championship at Shenandoah University while our newly formed Debate Team competed in the WACFL tournament. In addition, this past week we were able to hear our amazing band perform their Winter Concert and look forward to the Holiday Choir Concert on December 17. Our students are so talented!
I hope over break that you and your family are able to relax and recharge before the final push to end the semester. On behalf of the entire MPHS staff, I wish you a joyful and safe winter break. We look forward to welcoming our students back on January 6, 2025.
As you make your plans, please remember that on Friday, December 20 we will dismiss early at 10:30 am to begin our holiday.
As always, please reach out with any questions or concerns.
Charles Forrest
Principal

NOVA - Early Online College
The Spring 2025 Early Online College (EOC) registration is now open until Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at 5:00 PM, EST. These 12-week NOVA Online courses run asynchronously from February 4 – April 28, 2025.
Juniors and Seniors can take 1-2 NOVA courses at no tuition cost! Students are responsible for the cost of required textbooks and/or must opt out of the All Access book program for any courses with open education resources (OER). The available courses are 100% online and asynchronous. They are for college credit only.
EOC courses are selected because they meet the requirements for most of NOVA's associate degrees as well as being highly transferable as general education requirements for most colleges and universities.
