Learning Self Esteem
This week, the prevention team collaborated with GES students during health classes to focus on enhancing self-esteem. The students engaged in activities that helped them identify what healthy self-esteem looks like, which is closely linked to academic success. Low self-esteem can manifest in several ways, such as social withdrawal, self-criticism, signs of regression, or giving up easily. Activities designed to improve self-esteem can gradually boost a student’s confidence. The students had a great time participating in all the planned activities.
S.M.I.L.E. Club
This week, in The S.M.I.L.E. Club, student roles were announced. Members of the club voted for their peers to fill these positions. The club has also launched a positive poster initiative aimed at spreading kindness throughout the school. These posters will be displayed in classrooms and hallways later in the school year.
In addition to the poster project, the club is working on other initiatives. More information will be shared once these initiatives are complete. Remember, a smile 😊 can change someone's story, create positive change, brighten a room, encourage leadership, and radiate energy.
Children’s Grief Awareness Day
The Thursday before Thanksgiving is Children’s Grief Awareness Day. Students and staff were encouraged to wear blue today in support of grieving children and teens. This year, BMHS students also completed a grief education activity of writing out “chat bubbles.” Students could choose to write a message of support to a grieving friend or a message to someone they’ve lost.
Tigers Read
This week in Tigers Read, students collaborated to express their gratitude by writing what they are thankful for on their Thanksgiving Turkeys!
