Straight from the Hardt
Hello Ridgeline Families- I’m feeling good today, and I hope you are too! We are looking ahead to a weekend with an extra day and I have a little Van Halen (Panama) playing in the background. 80’s music always gives me a boost!
I want to start by expressing my highest respect and gratitude for our members of America’s Military Services. And on Memorial Day, I will take a moment and honor those who paid the ultimate sacrifice and lost their lives defending our country. May we never forget!
I’m excited for the final weeks of school and plan to enjoy the moments and memories that occur when something good comes to an end. Us “older” folks understand and appreciate how fleeting our youth can be and so we try our best to remind our young people to be present in the moment, and not always be looking to the future! At the same time, I’m excited about the future opportunities lying ahead for our class of 24 graduates. And I’m excited, and optimistic about the coming school year for our continuing and incoming classes of Falcons. We have a lot to be thankful for in our school and greater community in so many ways.
We’re wrapping up the academic year, which means, if you have questions or concerns about your students progress, I encourage you to reach out to their teachers one more time and check in.
We have many celebrations and honors to acknowledge for the spring and entire year. This week we recognized 75 students newly inducted into the National Honor Society. This is an impressive honor as it considers GPA as well as service to their community and quality of one’s character. Congrats to those students! We have teams performing well at state competitions—especially our girls golf team who earned a 7th place finish in the state! We're anxiously awaiting the results from our track athletes competing in Tacoma (team pictured here). We also celebrated a new tradition with the anointment of our first MR. B.I.G, Brysen Smith! He took home the honor following the Gentlemen’s Pageant ceremony Thursday night. He embodies the character, charisma, and talent to wear the crown. Congrats Brysen!
Our Yearbook class received quite an honor for last year’s book. We found out it will be featured in the ‘Portfolio’, which honors the top yearbooks in the country. Congrats to Mr. Cunningham and his yearbook team! ON THAT NOTE… Yearbooks are for sale again and will continue until they run out. First-come, first-serve. If you wait until yearbooks are distributed and everyone’s excited, it might be too late! You can purchase on the link for yearbook below.
One more thing to think about is the future of leadership in Washington’s Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction. During the forum, held here at Ridgeline Monday, we heard from three of the four candidates running for that office including incumbent Chris Reykdal. Our student panel posed some significant and relevant questions to the candidates. While this type of event isn’t something I would normally do, I did leave with some new insights and felt better informed about the candidates. If you have an hour, the TVW link is below.
There are extra activities happening inside and outside of the school day on most days in the coming weeks.
You know what I’m going to say next... Stay informed, Read the Flyer.
Make it a great weekend! --Mr. Hardt

2024 Senior Survey
Greetings, Senior parents/guardians! Each year, I send out a Senior Survey at year end to collect important information from students. Among other things, their answers will help us learn more about their post-high school plans and how RHS can support students who will come after them. For those attending a college or university next fall, completing Question #7 will enable us to get their FINAL TRANSCRIPTS out to their colleges/universities on time. So completing this survey is vitally important, as students may not be able to register for college/university classes until their chosen institutions receive their final transcripts.) Please encourage your student(s) to access the link Mr. Spraggins provided in Google Classroom and complete the survey. Thanks for helping us help them, and please contact Mr. Spraggins with any questions (bspraggins@cvsd.org)!

Girls Golf Team
The Girls Golf Team had quite a performance this week in the 3A State Tournament in Western Washington. Day 1 brought some tough rainy conditions, but the Falcons were up to the task and were the only team from east of Mt. Rainier to qualify for Day 2 in 8th place. With clear skies on Day 2 the girls came out firing at the pins and improved on their team score by 16 strokes. Led by Junior Carolyn Rose who shot 78 and placed tied for 13th as an individual overall, Junior Kate Mulligan, and Freshman Chloe Hamilton, the ladies finished as the 7th best team in the State. Amazing job to the entire team on a wonderful season!!!! We are beyond proud of you. Talons Up!!!
Inland Northwest Culinary Academy at SCC
Mrs. Foster and the Advanced Food Production students had the opportunity to tour the Inland Northwest Culinary Academy at SCC this week and enjoy a delicious lunch prepared and presented by the culinary students at their student run Orlando’s Restaurant. Ridgeline’s Advanced Food Production students were able to meet instructors and staff members, as well as observe the culinary classes in session.

Great job to all the participants of our first annual “Falcon’s Gambit Chess Championship”! At the end of 5 rounds of a Swiss System tournament we had an unexpected three way tie between Tyson Ramsey, Landen Hernandez, and Jack Huettl! (technically Tyson eked out the first place spot based on the opponents he faced). All 3 players will be recognized as the 2024 Falcon’s Gambit Chess Champions. If you like to play chess, come out to chess club or participate in the tournaments next year. Talon’s up!

Intro to Marketing & Graphic Arts
The Introduction to Marketing and Graphic Arts 1 classes began collaborating this week on a Food Truck Brand and Design prototype project. The Marketing team brought their food truck theme, brand, and moodboard, to Graphic Arts and "hired" them as the design team to create the truck exteriors and make their visions come to life. This week started with the designers interviewing their clients to model what really happens with a real life design project. More to come later as we reveal their final designs in the Graphic Arts classes, and their food truck presentations in the Marketing classes. We can't wait to see your amazing creativity, Falcons! 💚
