April is the Month of the Military Child
Leonardtown High School is joining the Military Child Education Coalition (MCEC) in celebrating Month of the Military Child. Nearly 2 million children in military families face unique challenges, including frequent moves and family separations. These remarkable young people demonstrate incredible strength and courage while adapting to new schools, making new friends, and supporting their families' service to our nation.
We encourage the LHS community to wear purple on April 23, Purple Up! Day to show support for military children. Military kids are essential members of our community who deserve recognition for their strength and sacrifices.
To learn more about supporting military-connected children, visit militarychild.org.

Congratulations to our Envirothon Teams!
This year LHS fielded 3 teams and for the second year in a row the 'Ospreagles' won the county competition with 444 points accumulated. The team set a county record for highest score in the Soils test (97), widely considered to be the most challenging of the 5 content areas. The first place team also won the highest score in Aquatics (92.5) and Forestry (98). The Ospreagles will represent St. Mary's County at the state competition June 11-12 in Garrett County MD.
The 'Ottercrats' scored second overall with 428 points and won the highest score in Wildlife (82). The Barnacrabs scored 5th overall with 368 points, which is actually more than the second place team from the 24' competition.
All 3 teams scored 1-2-3 in Soils and were the only teams to score higher than 80 points from the entire competition.

Unfortunately, parking is very limited for both students and staff. Utilizing extra parking spaces for this purpose can create an issue where there is nowhere for staff or student drivers to park.
