Quarterly Newsletter
April 11, 2025
Hello Amsterdam Families,
Spring has arrived, and with it a flurry of activity. The students completed the third quarter successfully, which included a great boys' basketball season and an enjoyable Missoula Children's Theatre performance of Hansel and Gretel. This contemporary take on the traditional fairy tale was enjoyed by all. In addition, the end of the quarter brought us a few family reading and math activities---Books & Breakfast and Pi & Pie night. PAC's Whoo's Reading month throughout March kept the kids turning page after page. Sponsors pledged $17,486 to the children's reading efforts, and students are thrilled to have reached their reading and fundraising goals. Thank you to PAC and all of the community support, and congratulations to all of our committed readers!
Fourth quarter ushers in important events, as well. The annual school election will take place on May 6. Ballots will be mailed out on April 18 to voters of the district. First, voters must decide on two candidates to fill the two open trustee seats for Amsterdam School District's school board. There are three candidates running in this year's election: Mr. Jim Dyk, Mr. Ben Flis, and Mrs. Laura Skillman. Secondly, voters shall consider the building reserve safety and security fund levy. For information on the levy's purpose and cost, please review the brief video clip HERE or click the blue information button below. Ballots can be returned via mail (must be received by May 6) or they may be dropped off at the Gallatin County Courthouse or other election deposit locations on or before May 6. For additional election information, check out the Gallatin County Elections Department website.
The Office of Public Instruction just released their annual Every School Succeeds Act (ESSA) Report Card (2023-2024) for each Montana public school district. I am sure you will be proud of our 3rd - 6th grade students for the level of proficiency demonstrated on the SBAC assessments noted in the report card, as well as the universal rating of Amsterdam School District. Please click HERE or on the ESSA Report Card button below to see the complete report card on the OPI website.
In other assessment news, the MAST testing window remains open through May 2 for grades 3 - 6, and the Montana Science Assessment will be administered to 5th graders on Wednesday, April 30.
We are looking forward to many upcoming events, including the spring concert on May 14, the PAC carnival and Cougars Got Talent on May 21, the 5th grade's Invention Convention on May 22, class field trips May 27 and 29, and Field day on May 28. Thank you for your continual support in our children's education; we could not provide all of these learning opportunities without the community's help!
Sincerely,
Marisa Stewart
Principal/Superintendent
