Fall News
It has been a great fall at SHS... take a look!
What a fantastic fall season for our music program!
The SHS marching band has had a number of performances since the start of the school year, most recently, our band show at Dover High School. The band has been performing well and received great comments from the adjudicators about the show concept and its execution. Our theme this year, A Pirate's Life for Me, has been enjoyed by both band members and viewers alike!
The SHS Chorus has had a great start to our year! We performed at Seacoast Choral Festival at Dover High School on Wednesday, October 23. The full chorus and select choir sang beautifully and even earned a standing ovation.
The music department just recently inducted its newest members in its Tri-M National Music Honor Society. These students make up the largest Tri-M chapter we've had at Spaulding and they are already doing great work as new members, planning service projects both for our department and for our community. Congratulations!
We chose the musical...
Matilda! Stay tuned for more information about try-outs and performance dates.
Homecoming Dance a huge hit!
On Saturday, October 26th about 360 students from all four grades came together to celebrate this year's Homecoming. The wave of excitement from the big win at home over our rivals, Dover, the night before carried into the dance. Students socialized and danced the night away in the SHS gym decked out in school colors. Ethan Bauer and Sophia Willis of the senior class were voted on by those in attendance as the 2024 Homecoming King and Queen. Students said they had a great time and love the Homecoming Dance as a new tradition at Spaulding.

News from our Career and Connected Learning Center
We are thrilled to share the success of our recent College & Career Fair, where over 50 vendors connected with our students, offering a wide range of post-secondary and career opportunities. Our students are currently engaged in diverse independent study projects, from Modern American Feminism to Advanced Ceramics, and interning with local organizations like Frisbie Memorial Hospital, Wentworth-Douglass, Deepa Reddy DMD, and Dover's standing ER. Additionally, 13 students are gearing up to complete the WorkReadyNH program through Great Bay Community College. In October, students participated in Fridays at Frisbie, the NEACAC College Fair at Salem State, New Hampshire Construction Career Days, the Aerospace Career Fair at Laconia Airport, a tour of the Brueckner Group for Manufacturing Month and New Hampshire Auto Dealers Association Career Fair at Manchester Community College. In addition the Career Connected Learning Center hosted college admissions representatives from around New England. We're excited about the bright futures ahead for our talented students!
College Credit in High School
Did you know that students in high school can earn college credit? We have over 38 courses that offer college credit at the same time students are earning high school credit. The cost is $150.00 per course. Many courses are free, falling into the STEM category. For those courses that are not STEM, the district pays $100.00 out of the $150.00. Many students leave Spaulding High School with a number of college credits earned, saving time and money as they move into their next journey. Any questions, please contact your child's school counselor.

Students register to vote!
The Spaulding High School Social Studies Department continued the tradition of offering Spaulding student’s the opportunity to register to vote. This year, many students who have reached voting age registered to vote with representatives from the Rochester City Clerk’s Office (a big thank you to the City Clerk representatives!).
Spaulding holds mock election
Spaulding participated in New Hampshire Public Broadcasting System’s Mock Election. We joined other schools around the state in compiling the results of our student mock election. Students also had access to our first time voter registration guide to help them navigate the election process. As always, we encouraged students to become active and engaged citizens in the democratic process.
Message from the Rec
Starting November 1, students will no longer be allowed to park in the spots along the Community Center building. This parking is reserved for Community Center patrons. This decision was made to promote access to the Community Center, especially among those with mobility challenges. Rochester Recreation thanks students for their help and cooperation in this matter!
