PTO Meeting tonight
All are welcome to join us in the Media Center tonight at 6:30 for our first PTO Meeting of the year. Principal Lopez will be there to talk about the upcoming year and answer questions. Hope you can make it!
Back to School Supply Drive
The PTO asks staff each year what is needed for supplies to help students. Each year, it's the same 3 things! So, we are sponsoring a Back to School Supply Drive focusing on Pencils, Kleenex, and Ear Buds (with jacks). Please consider donating in any of the following ways:
1. Donate online. All donations received between Sept 10 and Sept 27 will be used to purchase pencils, kleenex and ear buds. WMS Online Donation Link
2. Purchase items and drop off in the main office.
3. Order via Amazon or any other platform and have them shipped directly to the school! Please see our Amazon Wish List for ideas (these are only a few ideas - any pencils, ear buds with jacks, or facial tissue is welcome). Delivery address for the school is:
1425 School Dr

WMS Math League
Math League is back! “What is it?”, you say - well it is a club that meets Mondays after school 2:30-3:30pm in G106 where students get to play Math games and work to solve challenging Math problems as quickly as possible. We already had our first meeting, but it isn’t too late! Students will need a ride home from practice at 3:30pm or on meet days at 5pm. Please pick up a permission slip from your Math Teacher or the wall across from the counseling office or (Link Here). If they want to try it out, all are welcome.. Thanks! MAP Reading and Math Assessment
All 6-8 students of WMS will be taking the MAP Reading and Math Assessment.
This assessment is used to determine your students’ growth in Reading and Math and is part of a balanced assessment system used in South Washington County Schools. Here are some important ways we use MAP data:
- To inform instruction during the current school year
- To identify students to receive Advanced Learner Services,
- To identify or exit students from reading and/or math intervention supports, and
- To place students in the appropriate 6th grade math courses
If you would like to opt your student out of this test, parents/guardians must fill out this form by 9/6/2024 and submit it to the school.

New Cell Phone Guidelines
Starting this school year there are new guidelines regarding cell phones and E-devices (AirPods, iPads/tablets, iPods, Bluetooth speakers, portable music players, game players, cameras, video cameras, smart watches, etc.) in our schools.
Grades K-8 AWAY FOR THE DAY
Starting the first day of school, from 7:50am-2:26pm, cell phones or other E-devices should be turned off and secured in lockers.
We firmly believe that these Cell Phone Guidelines will positively impact the learning experience of our students and create an environment where every student can thrive academically and socially.
