Principal's Message

Greetings Washington Families,


Welcome to another exciting week at Washington GT Magnet Elementary! We hope you are having a restful long weekend, as there is no school today, Monday, September 2.


This week's newsletter brings you important updates to keep everything running smoothly. If you haven't done so already, please make sure to complete the 2024-2025 Carpool Application if you plan on picking up your child in the afternoon. This is crucial to ensure a safe and efficient dismissal process.


For our incoming Kindergarten parents, we're thrilled to invite you to join the PTA for "Tissues & Tea" on Tuesday, September 3, right after drop-off in the courtyard. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet other kindergarten parents and share in the excitement of your child's first day.


Lastly, don't forget that elective registration information will be coming home with your child TOMORROW! Be sure to review the available options and return the registration forms by 9:00 AM on Monday, September 9, 2024.

Elective Registration

Elective Registration materials are being sent home with students on Tuesday, September 3, 2024. Before registering, please watch the introduction video and review the FAQs.



Mrs. Wilkinson will hold a virtual Q&A Session for those with questions on Friday, September 6th from 8:00-8:30 AM. Join with the Google Meet link below if needed.

Important Elective Dates

1st Quarter Electives: September 16th-October 31st

2nd Quarter Electives: November 6th-January 9th

School Visitors

Just a quick reminder: If you’re visiting the school, please remember to sign in at the main office and bring a photo ID with you. This helps us keep our school safe for everyone.


Parents are welcome to visit for lunch after the first 3 weeks of school. This will allow us time to establish cafeteria routines and procedures. Throughout the year, all parents and visitors are required to enter the main office and sign in first, before going to the cafeteria.

Here Comes the Bus

Families of bus riders are encouraged to download the Here Comes the Bus app to help you view the real-time location of your child’s bus. You will be able to receive push notifications or e-mail alerts related to when the bus will arrive at the bus stop. Use the following steps to get set up:

  • Download the Here Comes the Bus app
  • Click the Sign Up button
  • Enter school code Yellow Bus (67500) or Vendor Transportation Services (67501)
  • Complete the “User Profile” box
  • Under “My Students,” click “Add”
  • Enter your child’s last name and student ID number
  • Once you confirm your information, you’re ready to begin

🚗24-25 Carpool Application

Please complete THIS FORM if you plan to use the carpool lane to PICK UP your students. Once submitted, two copies of an assigned carpool tag will be sent home with your student. If you need more than two copies for your family, please note that at the bottom of the form.

We encourage all parents to download the **Talking Points for Families** app before the school year begins. This app is a vital tool for staying connected with your child's teacher, allowing for easy and effective communication in your preferred language. By having the app ready to go on the first day of school, you'll be prepared to engage with your child's learning journey right from the start!
