"The White Heron" by Sarah Orne Jewett
(Little Summery)
Sylvia lives on a farm. She hadn't always lived on a farm. She used to live in the city. She prefers the farm and its solitude and all the birds and animals. Sylvia's in charge of milking a pesky, wandering cow. One day as she walks the cow back home, she hears a whistle. The whistle belongs to a hunter, carrying a gun, searching for rare birds to kill and stuff. The hunter offers Sylvia $10 if she can help him find a white heron. Silvia dreams of the many things she could buy with $10

Important Information About the Story/Text
Four people are on a ship that sinks.
They go onto a small lifeboat and one of them thinks there is a small island of refuge.
They realize nobody is there so they head back out to sea.
Being stuck on a small boat together brought a sense of brotherhood between the men.
The captain believes no one will save them so they must try and make it to land by themselves.
- They get close to land and then a large wave capsized the boat and they were stuck in the water without the boat

Summery:
Kerbs went to war in 1917 and came back in 1919. when Kerbs returns no one celebrates his return from the war, he came back after everyone else got back and did a hysteria. he also cannot get anyone to hear his stories of when he was at war. Kerbs lied twice to get people's attention for his stories of the war, both times he hated every second of it. People got bored of the war stories. At Kerbs house with his mom and sister Kerb is a hero they sometimes ask about the war but after awhile they get bored of the stories. After contemplating on his life and his future actions Kerb decides to go watch his sisters baseball game.
