• The building opens at 7:00 AM. Students will be expected to vacate the building by 3:20 PM and by 2:10 on Wednesday.
• The tardy bell rings at 7:50.
• The main drop off point for car riders is the loop on the OR Turnpike side of the school.
• The bus loop (Providence Road) should not be used for drop off until after 7:30 in the morning and not until after 3:30 in the afternoon.
• Students who drive, should fill out the form for their parking tag immediately. Form is located below.
• Students can select a locker. Please fill out the form found behlow.
• Monday and Wednesday will be on a "Wednesday" schedule this week.
• Schedule changes are completed by filling out the form on the grade level Canvas page which will open Monday at 8:00. Schedule changes requested via email will not be honored. Schedule changes must be completed by 3:07 Friday.
• Students will be held accountable for wearing badges. If students turned in their badges, they are in the front pocket of their laptop bag OR in Student Services. Approximately 200 students did NOT turn in their badges. New badges should be purchased during the first week of school for $10.00. Due to safety regulations, students are required to wear their badges visible at all times.

Parents, please consider submitting the application to take advantage of ALL of the benefits for your students.

For seniors, there are some colleges which will honor reduced applications IF it was approved their senior year. Don't let your students miss out on potential reduced costs.

Parents, in compliance with a new state law, every exterior door is required to be locked at all times unless a LEA is standing at the door to allow students in and out. Because we want ORHS to be as safe as possible, students will be instructed they must NOT open any exterior door for anyone. In addition, students failing to comply with this expectation or propping a door open will have serious consequences up and to including out of school suspension.

In order to provide the safest environment at ORHS, students are required to wear their school issued ID badge on their person. Lost badges must be replaced at a cost of $10.00. Badges were collected at the end of the 2022-23 school year and placed in their laptop cases. More than 200 students DID NOT turn in their badges. ORHS has a list of all badges returned. Students who do not have a badge must replace it immediately. Please be prepared to pay $10.00 for a replacement badge. Students desiring to update their picture for their badge can have a new photo taken and pay $10.00 for a replacement badge.

Freshman students will receive a temporary badge on the first day of school. The Maintenance Dept will print badges as soon as the enrollment stabilizes with new entries and withdrawals.

The expectation of Oak Ridge School is ALL student will wear their badge all day every day!

School pictures will be taken on Friday, July 28th. All students must take a picture in order to be included in the Oak Log; however, purchase is not required. Forms will be available in the iNews next Monday. Makeup picture day will be in October after Fall Break.

Students must register for transportation services via Skyward. The form is located in the Skyward FAMILY ACCESS ACCOUNT not the student access account. Families were sent instructions to email accounts on file throughout the summer. Paper forms will no longer be accepted.

If parents had bookmarked the old address (https://ortn.instructure.com/login/ldap), they will need to update it. I just sent out a message to all of parents through Skyward letting them know of the change and included steps on how they can also access the new address through the website. Hopefully most parents will see the message in Skyward, which should lessen the number who call here. I just wanted to give you a heads up about it, too.

FIRST DAY - ALL STUDENTS – Monday, July 24 - Students will report directly to your first block class. Students have Early dismissal – 1:50. Check your schedule, teacher name and room # prior to Monday morning so you will know where you’re going. If you cannot access Skyward, report to the food court, bus loop, or arena lobby to find your name and 1st period location. Administrators and staff will be available to assist all students. All students will receive a final schedule on purple paper during first block class.

Students have or will be issued an ID badge. This badge is a keycard to the building. Badges also provide access to the library, OR, printers, lunch accounts, etc. Students have access to the building beginning at 7:00 am. Badges are turned off at 7:50 when the tardy bell rings.

Students are not allowed in the building before 7:00 am when staff is available for supervision. Students are expected to vacate the premises by 3:15 daily if not under the direct supervision of a teacher or coach. Students will NOT be allowed to remain in the Food Court to wait on a parent or a ride home. No supervision is provided after this time.

Meet us at the Car Wash! ORHS Women's Soccer team is having their annual car wash on Saturday, August 5th from 9 - 2 at Ole Ben Franklin Mitsubishi, 480 S Illinois Ave, Oak Ridge.

Come out for the best and least expensive breakfast in town as the Cross Country team serves up pancakes, bacon and eggs at Aubrey's. Breakfast will be served on August 26th from 8 - 10. Tickets are only $5.00 and can be purchased from any XC athlete or pay at the door.

Parents, it is very important to check your Skyward account to ensure your personal information is up to date. If you haven't looked at it since your child was in elementary school, this might be a great time to review the information and submit changes.

Address changes are required to be verified by the Registrar, Rhonda Garrison, with appropriate documentation. Phone numbers and email changes can be sent to your student's administrator, or call Amy O'Rourke at 425-9607, in the Counseling Office.

Parents, students are NOT allowed to carry medications on their person at school. All medications must be registered with our nurse, Lori Gupton. Registration requirements are in the form below. This includes over the counter medications such as Tylenol, Ibuprofen, Benadryl or any type of allergy medications, etc. Students found with medication are subject to disciplinary action, which can include a Zero Tolerance and placement at alternative school. At the end of the school year, parents are responsible for picking up medications before the last day of school. The nurse will properly dispose of all medications remaining on the day of school.

Students driving to school are required to have a parking tag. There is NO cost; however, they must register their vehicle with Student Services and show their driver's license. The form is electronic and can be found at the link below. All students will receive a link Monday at 8:00 am via Skyward.

In order for a student to take their permit test, a form is required from the school. Mrs. Thacker, our attendance secretary, prepares these forms. Requests are accepted through the link below. When school is in session, a completed form may be picked up in the Attendance Office. However, if school is NOT in session, the form will be mailed home by USPS.

Did you know your teen will have their driver's license suspended due to poor grades and/or poor attendance?

Parents should review this information with their teen drivers!!

CDC is asking everyone to continue to save your Coke product lids/case codes. Each cap earns $.05 for this classroom! Coke lids/codes can be dropped in Student Services OR families set up their own account @ https://us.coca-cola.com/give/schools, input your codes and donate them to Oak Ridge High School. All proceeds donated go to CDC to help pay for classroom supplies, materials and student needs. Thank you for your support!!!
