The Pritchett Post -- 9/6/24
Home of the Panthers!
Dear Pritchett Families,
Our Open House was very exciting and officially kicked off our new school year! It was nice to see so many of you, and we appreciate your wonderful comments about the Pritchett staff. Many have asked to review the presentations shared by the Specials, Related Services and Emergent Bilingual teams. Please find them below. I also included my presentation as well.
This year the staff and I want to highlight traits of strong character for our students. These traits connect to our district’s Portrait of a Graduate. Specifically, we want D102 students to be:
Skilled Communicators and Collaborators
Effective Problem Solvers & Decision Makers
Ethical & Open-Minded Global Citizens
Determined and Empowered Individuals
This month we will be focusing on the trait of responsibility which ties in nicely with our portrait of a graduate. When a teacher sees a student showing responsibility, that student will be acknowledged by having their name and actionS shared during morning announcements. Afterward, the child will come to the office and receive a blue bracelet. The blue bracelet is our way of congratulating children for modeling this important character trait.
Please, be mindful of when school begins. We bring students into the building at 8:50 a.m. and start instruction at 9:00 a.m. Please make sure your child arrives at school on time. It is unfair to classmates to interrupt or repeat directions due to tardiness. We appreciate your support in this matter.
For your children,
Dr. Moreland, Principal
Student Council!
Is your child interested in joining student council? Meetings will be held on the designated Wednesday mornings from 8:25-9:00 a.m. Parent(s) or guardians must drop their child off at school at 8:25 a.m. If your child attends Clubhouse in the morning your child is allowed to attend, they will just leave early from Clubhouse. It is important that your child is free on these days and can be dropped off before applying for an officer position or wanting to be elected as a classroom representative.

September Reading Challenge
Ms. Boznos invites all students to participate in this September's Reading Challenge! Click on the flyer below to see what Ms. Boznos has prepared! Please note that books read by parents count. Happy reading!!
Undesignated Medication Program
District 102 is participating in the Undesignated Medication Program in collaboration with the Lake County Health Department (LCHD). In this program, the medical epidemiologist at LCHD has issued a standing order protocol for trained school personnel to administer undesignated epinephrine injectors, asthma medication, and/or naloxone in the setting of medical emergencies wherein a student, visitor, or staff person is experiencing severe allergic/anaphylactic reaction, respiratory distress, and/or opioid overdose. The medications will be administered in appropriate circumstances.
All parents/guardians received a letter in their child's backpack on Friday, August 23, which provided further explanation (also described in 105 ILCS 5/22-30). Per school code, we are required to provide the letter and have a signed acknowledgment statement for each child.
Please return the letter with a signature. If you need a new form, please contact your our school's secretary for assistance. You can also contact Mr. Eli Rogers at erogers@102.org.

The Panther Cup
One of the fun traditions we have at Pritchett School is awarding the Panther Cup. Kindergarten and 1st grade classes compete to win this special trophy each week. A second Panther Cup is awarded to the winning classroom between 2nd and 3rd grade.
How does a class win the Panther Cup? The classroom that has earned the most Q’s by Friday afternoon is declared the winner. A Q stands for Quality. Quality behavior, quality work, and simply behaving in expected ways can earn a classroom a Q. Any teacher may award a Q to a class, and they are eager to do so!
Below are the Panther Cup winners from the past week. Congratulations to Mrs. Patel's First-Grade class and Mrs. Kottmeyer's Second-Grade class (click on photos to enlarge)!
School Pictures
Save the date.....Pritchett School Picture Day will be Thursday, September 19. Be sure to tell your child to wear their smile!
