Brown Elementary Update

February 7, 2025
From the Desk of Dr. Cole Harms
Hello Brown Bears!
Happy February!
As we embrace the chilly month of February, I can't help but share that my family actively engages in the belief that a small rodent can determine the duration of winter. Unfortunately, we were disappointed by the prediction on Groundhog Day, which foretold six more weeks of winter. Maybe it’s just my longing for warmer weather!
Despite the cold, Brown School has been making the best of winter by diving into exciting winter-themed lessons, bundling up for outdoor recess, and even discussing the possibility of snow days—much to the delight of the students!
Additionally, we’re thrilled to celebrate our ST Math student achievements this month. Be sure to check out the winners from January showcased below! Let's continue to make this winter a memorable one as we support our students in their learning journey!
Lastly, Reports on Student Progress (ROSPs) are now available in PowerSchool. HERE is a link to instructions on how to access them if you need assistance.
Best,
Erica

DROP OFF REMINDERS
As the weather grows colder, we want to remind families who drop off their children by car of a few important guidelines to help keep the line moving efficiently and minimize the time students spend outside in the cold.
Drop-off begins at 8:20 AM. Please ensure that students do not exit the vehicle until they see adults outside. This is for everyone's safety.
Students should not exit the vehicle until you have passed the K-1 playground fence (the playground near KMS).
If your student is able to unbuckle and open the door by themselves, please encourage them to do so. The adults outside are there to assist and ensure safety, but allowing your child to open the door independently will help keep the process moving smoothly.
Please remain in line. Avoid pulling past other vehicles to drop off students even if there is space at the front. This practice is not only for everyone's safety but will also help the line move more quickly.
Drop off is at the front of the school only: Please do not drop students off in the parking lot and have them walk. This is for everyone's safety.
Thank you for your cooperation and support in keeping our students safe and warm during drop-off!
