Celebrate Danielle Heubel
This week we celebrate Danielle Heubel (GMHS '26). Danielle is a remarkable student who has been able to maintain straight A's this year and has achieved Highest Honors! This is Danielle's
third year in n the Virtual Academy. Danielle in honors classes and crushes her goals. Keep up the amazing work, Danielle and reach for the stars!
Top Five in Five
The top five things you need to know for this week!
1. Marking Period 4 starts Tuesday!
Tuesday April 2, 2024 marks the beginning of the last marking period of the 2023- 2024 school year. Students in all grades are encouraged to finish strong!!
2. Last Senior Day
The last day for Seniors is May 17th!
Seniors with Edgenuity recovery will have a deadline to complete recovery (including full credit recovery courses) by May 1st so that records can be updated within the school system.
If you are a Senior and feel that you cannot make the May 1st deadline, please email Mrs. Scheetz at bescheetz@smcps.org
3. Edgenuity courses: AI and Plagiarism.
4. Marking Period 3 Recovery
If your teacher recommends that you complete Marking Period 3 recovery, you will receive an email by Friday, April 5, 2024 for each course you are enrolled in. Remember if you are in recovery you must get to a minimum of a 60% for the grade to be replaced. Failed Marking Period grades are only eligible to be replaced with a D.

Upcoming dates
- Tuesday, April 2, 2024 - School resumes with normal schedules.
- Wednesday, April 10, 2024 - World Lit State Test sections 1 & 2 (graduation requirement)
- Wednesday, April 10, 2024 - Marking period 2 report cards available on HAC (Home Access Center)
- Wednesday, April 17, 2024- World Lit State Test sections 3& 4 (graduation requirement)
- Friday, April 19, 2024 - Two hour early dismissal
State Testing Dates
State tests are required for graduation. Please plan on coming to the Virtual Academy for each scheduled day for each content you are currently taking. More information will be sent directly to each student and guardian involved. This section will remain in the S'More for easy reference during the testing weeks.

Having trouble getting to Google Meets, Schoology, using your camera, mic or other tech problem? If so, reach out to Ms. Barker for help! Contact her at ajbarker@smcps.org or call the Virtual Academy at 301-863-4090 and dial 16122 to talk to her directly.
Ms. Barker is also reaching out to student whom the teachers have reported are having difficulty.
