With only five more weeks before school resumes, construction is nearing completion. We are ahead of schedule and looking forward to having the schools open for students and staff to return for the start of school. The buildings are looking great and we are very excited to have these new learning spaces available after two years of construction. Elmwood Elementary
An amazing amount of renovations were completed this summer at Elmwood. Each classroom was renovated along with additional flex spaces and collaboration space being added. The construction crews are putting the finishing touches on the remaining work items and we anticipate everything being done mid August. This summer's construction at John Mills was a little lighter than last year and the construction crews were able to work throughout the summer without disruption. The remodeled areas will include four classrooms, three office spaces, staff work room and a staff collaboration space. We are looking forward to having the students and staff return next month to see the improved learning spaces.
The new classrooms and office spaces will be available for the start of school. The additional classrooms will reduce the number of teachers needing to move throughout the school to teach their classes and the additional offices will provide counselors and social workers a private space to work and meet with students. The media center will have four breakout rooms for students to collaborate and ample space for novel and book storage.
