Sonora Elementary Mission and Vision
Mission
Sonora Elementary’s mission is to provide a safe community where high levels of learning are ensured for ALL.
Vision
The vision of Sonora Elementary School is to provide a future of opportunities in a rapidly changing world through an inclusive environment that: ensures children learn essential standards, encourages ALL to persevere when faced with challenges, and empowers students through choice and voice. To live this reality we believe that the most promising strategy is to develop our capacity to be a professional learning community. We envision a school in which staff:
Unite to achieve a common purpose.
Work interdependently in collaborative teams.
Demonstrate a personal commitment to the academic success and general well-being of each student.
Join the Kindness Challenge
Sponsored by Sonora Elementary School of Innovation K-Kids
We’re excited to announce that the Kindness Challenge will start on November 1st and run for 21 days! Why 21 days? Research shows that it takes 21 days to create a new habit, and we want kindness to become a natural part of our daily lives—at home, in school, and in our community.
By practicing small acts of kindness every day, we can build a habit that not only spreads positivity but also strengthens our children's social and emotional skills. Let’s work together to create a kinder, more compassionate community, one day at a time! 💖🌍
Did you know that teaching and modeling kindness has incredible benefits for your child’s social, emotional, and cognitive development? Research shows that children who practice kindness are more likely to develop empathy, build strong relationships, and even improve their academic performance. By modeling kindness at home, you’re setting an example they’ll carry with them into the classroom and beyond!
Research shows that kindness not only helps others but also boosts our own happiness, health, and social well-being. When we practice kindness daily, it becomes a habit that changes the way we see the world and how we interact with others. 🌍💖
There is a science about kindness! Watch the video below to learn more.

Supporting Healthy Screen Habits for Our Scholars
Research shows that screen time can impact children's development, especially in areas like communication, problem-solving, and social skills. Excessive screen use is linked to issues with sleep, focus, emotional stability, and even physical health, such as posture and core strength. Parents can help by setting screen time limits and encouraging more face-to-face interactions, physical activity, and play to support their child’s well-being and learning.
We’re using IXL to support our curriculum this year, and your child has access to this online
program at home. IXL is a learning platform that lets students practice skills that they’re
learning and guides them to material that will help them grow the most.
With thousands of skills that match what we’re covering in class, as well as insights into
student progress, IXL is a great resource to help your child excel.

Each child should have a car &/or bus tag on their backpack.
