Classroom Environment Request for the 2021-2022 School Year
Dear Hunter Families,
At this time each year, staff members begin to look forward to the next year by discussing class placements for students. It may seem early; however, many factors are considered before making classroom placement recommendations. It is a big task that requires much time and thought.
To ensure balanced class lists and successful school experiences for all students, factors such as gender, academic performance, student strengths and weaknesses, and peer relations are well thought out. Even teacher traits are considered in the process to attempt to match students and teachers. The past year has given us even more factors to consider.
Parent requests can cause havoc with classroom assignments. Unfortunately, many unjust generalizations are made about teachers, specials classes, combinations of students and combinations of classes. In addition, sometimes requests are made because of wanting friends or family together. This is not always a wise decision for optimal learning.
Parents sometimes have teacher preferences; however we cannot place children in classes only on the basis of the parents’ preference.
There are many factors that are considered when creating class placements for students. While we do not accept requests for specific teachers, we do value parent feedback in regard to their child’s strengths and needs.
You are welcome to complete the Classroom Environment Request Form that CAN BE FOUND USING THIS LINK. Your environment input is valued and will be taken into consideration, but cannot be guaranteed. The digital form will stay open until Sunday May 2, 2021.
Hunter Elementary is filled with talented and hardworking teachers that are dedicated to the success of each and every child that enters our doors.
My Best,
Mrs. Jenna Mullins
