Gray Hawk students took part in a special event on Election Day this year—voting to name our new school mascot! In a true celebration of civic engagement, students registered to vote, created voter registration cards, and checked their names off the official voter list as they cast their ballots.

Throughout the day, classrooms explored the importance of fulfilling your civic duty by voting. Students also learned about the reality of elections, including how 9 ballots were disqualified because they had both options marked—a valuable lesson in proper ballot completion!

Each class had the chance to propose a name for the mascot, and a staff vote held a couple of weeks ago narrowed down the choices to two finalists. Both students and staff cast their votes. Out of 285 ballots, "Hawkie" received 153 votes (54%), "Grayson" received 123 votes (43%), and 9 ballots (3%) were not counted due to voting errors.

This election was a fantastic opportunity to make the voting process real and relevant for our Gray Hawks, sparking important conversations about elections and civic responsibility. We're thrilled to announce that our new mascot will proudly be called Hawkie!

You are cordially invited to the Gray Hawk Veterans Day Celebration on Monday, November 11 at 3:00 pm. If you would like to recognize loved ones that have served (or are currently enlisted), a red or blue Veterans Day Hero sheet was sent home. These will be on display on Monday.

As per our protocol, if you plan on attending the Veterans Day celebration, we ask that you PRE-REGISTER. When you pre-register, that allows us to already have your visitor sticker printed off and will not delay your entry. You MUST have your ID scanned into the system AND preregister at the link below in order for a sticker to be ready for you. Once you sign up, you will get a confirmation email. If you do not get a confirmation email, you are NOT pre-registered and will need to wait in line.

Attention parents! We are so excited to plan for the 2025-2026 school year! In an effort to effectively plan, please complete this form if you will be enrolling your child in kindergarten. Our Parent Informational Meeting will be in the spring. You will be given information prior to this meeting, so completing this form will help us to get all communication to you. THIS IS ONLY FOR BASEHOR-LINWOOD RESIDENTS, THIS IS NOT FOR OUT OF DISTRICT ENROLLMENT.

Passes can be purchased now as a “gift” and are good for a year from when they are activated.
