These nights are a great way to bond with your child, meet other families, and be part of the wonderful things happening at our school.
MOY Results: Celebrating Growth in Math and Reading
Our Middle of Year (MOY) assessment results show that our students are making great progress!
In Kindergarten, students at or above benchmark in math grew from 58% to 70%, and in reading, from 65% to 73%!
3rd Grade math improved from 58% to 68%, while 6th Grade math climbed from 38% to 53%!
1st Grade reading increased from 52% to 59%, and 4th Grade is holding strong at 78%!
This progress is a reflection of hard work from our students, dedication from our teachers, and support from you at home! Keep encouraging reading, practicing math skills, and helping your child develop a growth mindset. Every bit of effort makes a difference!
RISE UP with Kindness!
This month, we are focusing on kindness. We want our students to fill our school with acts of kindness! Whether it’s helping a friend, writing a kind note, or simply sharing a smile, small actions create a culture of compassion and unity. In the first 4 days of our kindness initiative, we have documented over 3000 acts of kindness! Because of this, our students earned a dress down day!! More information on this will be forthcoming. We are so proud of our students and the increased motivation to be kind to those around them. Let’s continue to work together to encourage these moments at home and at school!
Parents, thank you for being such a valuable part of our school. Your involvement, encouragement, and partnership make all the difference. Let’s continue to RISE UP together and make this the year the best. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to email us at randerson@americanleadership.net or kstoney@americanleadership.net.

SECONDARY INFORMATION
Note from our Secondary Principal Amanda Kuhnz
ALA Families,
As we continue our journey through this school year, I want to take a moment to emphasize an important aspect of our success: the power of consistency, responsibility, and unity. It’s essential to remember that the quality of our learning and the strength of our community are not things we can leave to chance or luck. These are the results of our collective efforts, day in and day out.
Our school thrives when each one of our students and staff show up—not just physically, but with our full attention, commitment, and willingness to contribute. Attendance is more than just being present in the classroom; it's about being engaged in education, supporting peers, and embracing the opportunity to grow.
Equally important is the sense of unity that binds us together as a community. This month we are recognizing the "U" for Unity in our R.I.S.E. U.P. motto. We each bring something valuable to the table, and when we work together, we can create a culture of learning that uplifts everyone. Let’s support each other, encourage each other, and ensure that no one feels left behind. When we do this, we build a school where success is a shared achievement, not left to chance.
I challenge each of you to take responsibility for your learning, your attendance, and the culture we’re building together. Let’s make it a culture of excellence, where every student, teacher, and family member plays a crucial role.
Remember, our school is only as strong as the effort we all put into making it great. Let’s make the choice every day to show up, be engaged, and build each other up. Together, we can make this school year one of growth, connection, and achievement. We are so proud of the students and staff who have displayed this recently - Fine Arts competitions, athletics, Sterling Scholars, etc. Keep those accomplishments coming.
Go, Eagles!

Teacher and Student of the Month for February - Excellence!
Camille Murphy (12th grade) - Camille had leading roles in 2 shows in the month of February, and rehearsed for at least 3 more. She did all of this while maintaining a very high GPA and preparing for college next year. She demands excellence of herself and those around her. She is a great student and person. We are grateful that we have her at ALA as a role model for all of our students.
Tate Nelson (7th grade) - Tate is the type of student who consistently displays a relentless commitment to achieving his best, no matter the challenges he faces. One of the most notable ways Tate demonstrates excellence is through his work ethic. He takes the initiative to push himself, ensuring that he not only maintains but strives to improve his performance. He doesn’t allow any circumstances—whether personal or academic—to get in the way of his pursuit of excellence. Tate’s dedication to his education and his willingness to put in extra effort when needed is a true testament to his character. He exemplifies the value of excellence by consistently going above and beyond, showing determination and resilience. Tate’s focus on putting in the hard work, even when things may be difficult, serves as a model for his peers and is a reminder of what it means to never settle for anything less than your best. For these reasons, I believe Tate is a deserving candidate for recognition this month. His dedication to excellence is truly inspiring.
Kristen Christiansen - Teach of the Month
Kristen exemplifies the value of excellence through her unwavering dedication, hard work, and commitment to her students’ success. She goes above and beyond, putting in countless extra hours to support her students both in and out of the classroom, ensuring they have every opportunity to thrive. Her impact is evident in the outstanding performances and achievements of her students, a true testament to her passion for teaching. I am constantly amazed by her drive and the way she inspires those around her.
Isabel Limon - Support Staff Member of the Month
Oh my goodness, I absolutely love her. She works so hard and is so kind to everyone. She shows excellence in every aspect when keeping our school looking so nice and clean. She is very professional. She goes above and beyond by being so respectful to all students and staff. Her attitude is positive and inviting. We are so lucky to have her on board and a member of our team!
