5/20/24
May 20, 2024
The coming days and weeks mark an excellent time to celebrate the commitments of our class of 2024. If you are part of the family of a Senior or not, every choice our students have made is worthy of celebration. We will have graduates continuing to a 2 or 4 year college/university, pursuing an apprenticeship in a skilled trade, serving in our military (via enlistment, service academy, or reserve officer training), and entering the world of work. There is no one outcome or one-size-fits-all for our students to pursue. Here is to making the most of our final weeks with our Seniors and all of our returning students maximizing their time and opportunities at FHS.
With Saber Pride,
Mr. Vuolo

2024-2025 SCHEDULING UPDATE
Current 8th-11th grade students' lists of scheduled courses for the 2024-2025 school year will be sent via email to families on May 20-21. FHS students also viewed the video here in Advisory (also shared on Google Classroom with these year specific slides). Please make sure to check your email for this message and review your list carefully. The message contains links for required summer homework for some AP and honors courses (link also found permanently directly at the top of the FHS Student Services website), a list of courses not running, and information about our course change request policy. Any course change request must be made by submitting the completed pink course change request paper form (available in Student Services) with signatures to Student Services by Friday, May 30 at 3 p.m. Late requests will not be accepted and schedule changes will not be made over summer or when students return in fall. Note that change requests are not guaranteed due to space availability and course options. Final FHS student schedules with class periods, teachers, rooms, etc. will likely be released on PowerSchool in late August.
NEWSIES AWARDS
FHS GRAD TICKET INFORMATION
Dear Graduating Senior Families,
We are looking forward to our graduation ceremony at American Family Field on Saturday, June 8th at 4pm with our students, staff, family, and friends. We have more information to share with you about how the ticket process will work for students and families.
Every graduate will receive (4) complimentary tickets. Graduates with more than one household or households with more than one graduating student will only receive (4) tickets. Please note the graduate does not need a ticket and does not count as part of the (4) tickets a family receives. Graduates will be seated alphabetically with their peers.
In addition, we are excited to share that we will be selling additional graduation tickets beginning Thursday, May 16th. Each ticket beyond the (4) complimentary tickets costs $8 each. Tickets will be sold in the high school main office to students for cash, cashier’s checks, or credit card. When students purchase tickets with cash, please have them bring exact change. Tickets will be sold during a student’s lunch and after school.
Additional paid tickets will be given to students at the time of purchase. When students are given the tickets, the students will verify the number of tickets received. The four complimentary tickets will be given to students during the Senior Meeting on 5/15 during Advisory.
All seating at the event for families and attendees will be general admission. In other words, all accessible seats not allocated for our graduates and staff will be available on the date of the ceremony.
Ticket purchases are not refundable.
Please encourage your Senior to finish strong. Participation in this ceremony is contingent upon completion of all graduation requirements, as well as meeting all obligations. These obligations include fees, detentions, disciplinary consequences, and fully completing the checkout process.
We are so excited to host our graduates at American Family Field and to celebrate our seniors as they end their final few weeks at Franklin High School.
Sincerely,
Michael Vuolo
FAMILY ENGAGEMENT SURVEYS COMING TUES AFTERNOON
At this time of year, we typically send out our Family Engagement Survey to our families so we can share the feedback with each building to use the results as part of our overall continuous improvement process. This survey from Franklin Public Schools is being used to collect data from our parents and guardians around two main themes: Satisfaction and Family Partnership.
NEW THIS YEAR: the survey will be coming to all parents/guardians via text message this Tuesday in the late afternoon. We have transitioned this process to text messaging to make this easier on the family member to complete. Additionally, sending via text message directly to the parent(s) makes it so you do not have to fill out the typical student ID# and date-of-birth to authenticate for your child(ren). We are hopeful this will help us to get more feedback from our families. Please note the survey can be taken ONCE per child so families with multiple children will receive one text message per child. The survey will tell you who you are completing the survey for as you get started. The text message will begin with “FP-SCHOOLS” as our text messages typically do so you know this is from us. The link provided will take you to one of our typical survey pages that you can see in the nearby image.
We appreciate the time you will spend responding to the survey. We will use your responses to shape our work on being a better place to learn, a better place to work and part of a better community. Thank you!

LIBRARY BOOKS ARE DUE BACK BEFORE SUMMER
High school books are due back May 29th. Please look for any missing books in cars, under furniture, in your child’s bedroom and return them to school. Families will receive a bill for any library materials that are not returned. If items are found over the summer, they can be returned to the ECC District Office and student accounts will be adjusted. If families would like to provide a replacement copy instead of paying for the item, the replacement copy may be sent to school in the fall. Thank you!
